When I grow up . . .

I have, over the years, met some really stand out "older ladies". I told Bob today that when I grow up I want to be like Gladys. She is in her 90's and uses a motorized wheelchair. I actually think she and her husband share it and takes turns with the walker and the motorized chair. She keeps her hair colored, and wears "interesting" clothes. She paints in her eyebrows. She is always genuinely pleased to see you. She has good lifetime advice. She always seems to be positive. I do not think she and Gene have been married very many years. Unless one of them is in the hospital, they show up. We do not have automatic doors at church, so someone will hold the door for them to go in and out. Gene was inside talking, so today she just zipped out, up onto the ramp for the chair. She carefully got down, and held the truck to steady herself. I asked if she needed help and she said no, she would just hold on and get in. We all kind of look out for one another when we can.

Sounds like she has a sharp mind still. If I grow up I'd want to be able to still take care of myself, I don't want to have to depend on anyone.

She sounds positive and it's always pleasant to have such positive people around. My grandparents were like that. Thet lived till ripe age , each four of them( both sets of grandparents) crossing 95. They were always full of life.

I love to see possitive people. Many people have a tendency to only talk about how bad they are and about the thousand pains they endure.

That made me smile. I say she is one cool lady and I would love to be like her at that age too. I mean right now I could still rock and roll that is what I feel like but at that age who knows how I will be,

It’s so lovely when people that age are still doing well enough to not have to be in a home.

I envy people like Gladys. I'm 74 and have severe mobility issues. God bless her.

I agree, Gladys sounds like a positive lady who wants to live the best life she can live. I am striving for that, too, but I am not as old as Gladys. More power to her!

Aging remaining independent and with a sharp mind is not bad. I would like to be like my mother, but I want to die like my father, a quick heart attack.
