Beautiful and chocolatey birthday cake!!!!

I have a lot of notifications to catch up on. You've not been forgotten. It's a mixture of celebrating my birthday but also not feeling well at all. I've booked in my appointment with my doctor for the 28th of Feb. By then I would have had my Ultra-Sound for my rib cage. So should get results then for that and MRI.
I went to my Nanny's house tonight with my dad and brother. Originally the plan was going to the movies tonight but the plans changed. We had yummy sandwiches and a yummy, but very chocolatey cake. I LOVE chocolate cake but even I couldn't stomach it tonight.
I had a nice time yesterday and today. To be honest, I had been sad today too. I had an appointment with my psychologist today and I vented to him that I often feel alone, invisible or I guess just forgotten about by some friends. Including on my birthday. I KNOW we all have our own lives but I'm getting frustrated with the effort of always checking in when they are are down. I may or may not get a message from them to check in on me and if they do it's usually because I message first. Every birthday I message them with a nice paragraph wishing them a wonderful day. I don't just do "Happy Birthday." No, I write a whole message to let them know they are thought of. And some friends I've done A LOT for on birthdays.
I'm not a child. I'm not naive. I get life! But on this day, on my birthday, I have had lovely cards, thoughtful gifts and beautiful birthday messages. But by those I cherish and thought I'd hear from, I've had nothing. It's past 9pm. I just kinda thought and hoped over the years, I made some sort of significant impact on some people's lives that I could at least be remembered for my birthday.
I may be on here and there. I'm very tired and don't feel so great but really don't feel like laying down. But sorry some comments will have late responses. But they will get done I can promise you that.

Some friends may be like me and forget birthdates... Pretty and I both do that... Sometimes we don't remember our own birthdays until three or four days later. It's not that we don't care, it's just crappy memories. After we do remember, we tease each other about forgetting... My mom was like that, too. She cared but birthdays were just another day unless someone reminded her.

Thank you for your thoughts. I promise I'm not trying to be difficult. But it's hard to think of it like this. For me personally. Mostly because these are friends I've had for years. Or even the new-ish type of friend, we had been talking about it a lot. Like literally the other day. But then on the day, nothing. This "friend" is someone I'm questioning. She never says please or thank you for anything I do. She has no manners and though I've spoiled her like crazy, she's never even given me a card for my birthday or Christmas. It's always "I forgot to bring it" but this mysterious present never appears. Please don't get me wrong. I don't mean people must match what I do but a quick message would mean the world to me or even a little card. Her manners is awful. Not thanking me for making her a cup of tea in my house is one thing but not thanking me for treating her to a resort for her birthday with decorations, cake, presents and buying dinner or thanking me for tickets to events in Perth that are not cheap....I don't know.
But her aside, friends I've known for years and years....Plus, they are very much active on Facebook right now. Facebook also lets people know whose birthday it is. For me, I find no excuse. I'm trying hard to see it from your point of view and I actually used to. But I can't anymore. I thank you for being here though and expressing your thoughts. I just feel neglected. It's happened way too many times now for me to see it as a mistake.

Some people are ungrateful boors and that sounds like it fits your "friend". Not much of a friend, in my opinion.
You always make sense, so don't worry about that.
I give people too much leeway when it comes to things that are important to me... I've always just shrugged slights off and not important. Yes, they hurt but I won't let someone else ruin my day with their thoughtlessness. I always make secondary plans any time one of my friends is involved, in case they "forget"... That way I still have fun even if it's not with them.
Now, I can just force Pretty to do the fun stuff with me. 
If she wants.

I ended up having to cut back what I did for everyone else . . . not that I was ever looking for reciprocation but something, anything would have been nice rather than zip. I still like to make things special for others, but I keep it low key now . . . I don't want to go through that disappointment anymore.

I am one of those boneheads that neglected you on your birthday, and for that I am very sorry. If you're up for it, we can grab some of your leftover cake and just sit somewhere private and eat cake and talk.

@MrDenata You....you are just so amazing! I'm being serious. I'm not a negative person by any means but I do often get lost, confused and sad when people treat me like I'm a nothing. Because I try so hard to make others feel safe, welcome, happy, etc not only because I care about them but also because this world is getting worse and I want to look after people. So when I realise my own little world of people I fill it with aren't making me feel safe or happy, I don't know how to handle it. Does that make sense?

@VivaLaDani13 the sad part is people change and we cant control it, the only thing that we can control is ourself. So, you knew it already tho, you just sad and hurt. The important thing is youre happy now, with or without them who forgot you (or maybe they busy with their things). And always remember you have us, like always

Cards and gifts aren't only for kids who celebrate their birthdays. Adults may have too. Just like us,my wife and me are already senior citizens yet we receive those things from our children and grandchildren everytime we have our birthdays.

I guess what I am more coming from certain and specific people who I do a lot for and they have been extremely ungrateful about it.
