After a four-month wait it is finally here

Back when we were remodeling our master bathroom one of the medicine cabinet doors ended up getting cracked during installation. The contractor had told us that he could get it fixed but I decided to order a replacement door. This way it will be original material.
We had ordered the door at the end of October of 2022 and were told it will be a 90+ day wait for it. It is finally here. Came end of last week. I didn't even know because the store hadn't contacted us yet. I decided to call them today and that's what I found out.
I still can't believe it took that long. I wonder where the freaking door was coming from and why such a long wait...
Now we gotta see when the contractor that did our remodel is available to install that door. I hope everything will go smoothly this time around and it won't get damaged again.

One of my sons waited months for a car part, and it isn't even an old car. The man that runs the shop he went to, said that they couldn't even find used parts for some cars now. He also said if he did find one he needed it was often priced as much, or usually more, than a new part. We told him either used or new, but no used one became available so he had to wait for the new one.
I hope it's installed soon and all is well. And that he doesn't break it before he gets it installed!!

That is crazy! But nothing we can do about it. I went to the supermarket yesterday and some shelves were pretty empty. I hope we are not gonna have food and other item shortages in stores.

@MarieCoyle Very good idea. I used to buy Hellmann's mayo olive oil dressing. I saw it in the store for $11.99. That is just crazy! Granted it was in a Russian store and not a supermarket but still crazy. Even at $6.xx it is still a lot.

According to what I have read, there will be food shortages, as well as food will continue to rise in price. If you see something at a good sale price that you purchase often, buy an extra. Or two, or....

Who knows. We've been having supply shortages/chain issues since 2020, and it's only getting worse.

@lovebuglena Probably a lot longer, because it's more material that might be hard to find.

@kaylachan Guess it all depends on whether it is already made or has to be made.

I wonder how long we'd have to wait had we ordered the entire medicine cabinet.

I hope the door will not get damaged while hubby is transporting it in his car to our house.

@much2say hubby stood the box up instead of putting it flat on the floor. I hope that wasn’t a bad decision.

@lovebuglena This is not the problem, for sure I know we lack steel because it came from Ukraine, as well as sunflower seeds to make the vegetable oils and wheat. There is also a problem with electronic components because of the sanctions the stupid European Governments imposed to Russia.

Maybe not enough people to do the deliveries?

Our guest bathroom had a cabinet that goes above the toilet. It fell last year and my mother put it back up. Well it fell again. We are probably going to get a new cabinet.

@lovebuglena yeah. My mother got a new cabinet. This one is better because it has a closure on the doors and it isn't a wall one.

Getting a new cabinet is probably the best thing to do.

I can imagine. Waiting 4 months for a medicine cabinet door is ridiculous. Now gotta install it. The contractor that did our bathroom was asking my mom if it came yet so he can install it. I think one person has to hold it and another screw it to the medicine cabinet. If only one person does it things can go wrong and it can get damaged. I told my mom maybe hubby can hold it and I screw it in but she wants the guy to come.

@porwest it would be done by the same guy that damaged the original door lol. But if he were to do it I wouldn’t want him doing it alone. How can one hold the door and screw it in at the same time without something going wrong?

@lovebuglena After such a long wait probably better to have it done professionally and avoid problems that might cause you waiting longer.

Me too. Can't wait for it to finally be installed. Hopefully, with no issues or damages. And then we have to find/buy a shower caddy or whatever it's called where you store body wash, shampoo, sponges, etc. The one that goes into the corner of the tub. And we need a new soap dispenser, a cup for toothbrushes, and a bucket. I want to finally be able to use the remodeled master bath.

I would not be surprised if that was the case.

Good luck with having the new door fitted. That's certainly a long time to wait.

Yeah. Originally, I thought it was 1.5 months wait, because I was thinking of time, where 90 min is 1.5 hrs. Didn't realize it was gonna be 3 months. But the actual wait was 4 months.

I'm sure it has to do with the supply-and-demand thing with not enough people to work. I'm glad it finally came in. I hope the installation goes OK.

Hubby has yet to pick it up. By the time he ends work the store is already closed. Hopefully, he can get it after work Wednesday. If not, it will have to be Thursday, on his day off.
