New To Me

United States
March 3, 2023 1:46pm CST
I received a package from Walmart, delivered by FedEx. The driver had to take a photo of the package and me on the porch. He said they're required to have a photo of where the package was delivered. Must be a lot of packages not being delivered, or porch pirates are on the rise. You recall about 3 weeks ago, I delivered a package to my neighbor, it was delivered to a place where no one lives. To take pictures. Something is definitely up.

Ever since the pandemic our packets are kept on the gate pillar which are then collected.

They have been doing so for a while now (taking the pic of the receiver & parcel), instead of taking our signature due to Covid. They call it part of 'no contact delivery' or something. (Guess it is good as a proof if the parcel was delivered to the CORRECT address. They sent things wrong to us every now and then, very annoying!)

A couple of months ago they delivered a package to a vacant house. I got it and gave it to the rightful owner.

@popciclecold You are so kind to do that. I had no choice but to do that a few times, since they dumped parcels from some other addresses to our place.

Since many packets are not delivered to the right person, delivery man always take a picture for the package for a proof that they have delivered it to the right address. And we who has received, should take a video of unwrapping the package.

Packages delivered to houses are insured so the drivers have to be able to prove they dropped the packages off at the right place. If the package isn't delivered or isn't delivered to the right house, the insurance pays for the contents of the package. That's why there isn't a lot done to find or prosecute porch pirates. The package owner will still get his stuff and the insurance is the only ones out money on the deal.

People also scam and claim things were not delivered when they were. It seems like a good procedure to me.

No matter what I get delivered they always take a picture. But I've never been required to be in the picture too. My stuff is left on the porch and I get a notice it was delivered with a picture accompanying it.

I like the fact that they take a picture because the package is often not left at the door. One time they left it in front of the garage door and said it was delivered on the front porch. :-(

Fedex delivered something to me this morning. can't say if he or she took a photo. They did ring our doorbell, which has a camera so. maybe not all of them do as they are told?
