The Time of Year I Hate the Most

This is that time of the year I hate the most. It's that time between the end of winter and the start of spring—not the calendar date for spring. But the time when it actially feels like spring.
It's like that last 5 minutes at work when it just drags on and on and seems you might never get to 5 o'clock to punch out and go home.
You get antsy. You're ready and prepared for nicer, warmer weather and the joy of shutting down the heat and opening the windows for a spell to let in some fresh air, and enjoy some comfortable days outside before summer winds into full swing and you're sweating bullets.
And it's the nice weather plans already made that you really want to get to. The more enjoyable weekends not stuck in the house to avoid the blistering cold or the frigid wind.
You get tired of seeing bare trees and wearing coats all the time.
We may have another few weeks of this despite what the calendar says. It always lies. It always teases you. It always slaps you in the face.
I mean, it is what it is, hate it or not. One just has to be patient and wait. But I am really getting tired of this right about now as I always do, year after year after year.

This week is really warm; and next week it will drop into the 40s. It just doesn't want to give up!

@LindaOHio One hopes. It looks like we'll get nice weather this weekend for our camp trip, so I am looking forward to that.

Yes, so close and yet... Spring can be a teaser for sure. "Spring will come and so will happiness. Hold on. Life will get warmer." — Anita Krizzan

“Four seasons” is a myth. We have 14 between March 1 and May 1: fake spring, back to winter, sprinter (spring/winter within three hours of each other…we supposedly have that coming up tomorrow here), tornadoes, snow storms, real spring, nope back to winter, spring in spring, 80 degrees, back to winter, back to spring, back to summer, back to winter, and is this finally spring (usually about June 19, the day before summer starts).

It makes me glad to live in the south where our warm weather usually lasts longer than cold weather. I can't imagine living in Alaska or somewhere that's cold most of the time.

I feel the same way you do. By now I'm always anxious for nicer weather. I want to be able to open the windows and get rid of the stale winter lingering in the house. I want to sit outside and enjoy the sun on my face. I want that dull brown grass to turn green. I want to see the flowers bloom and hear the birds singing. I don't want to have to check the weather every day to see if we're getting snow.
