Do you have people that come to your door for money?

We have people that come and ask for money and if I do not really have it then do not answer the door. I will look out to see who is there and if do not know them will not even talk to them. Do you have those that come to your door only when they want money for some reason? Do you know them or not?

Usually we don't give money those who come to the door to ask for money. Because we know the person is mentally ill person. It happens here almost every month by the same person.

In my neighborhood, there are people who come to the door all the time, especially on Friday afternoons. They come and ask for charity. I try to keep a can of small change and just give them two coins and hope that it is enough and that they will go away.

@allknowing That could very well be. Do people in your area know anything about her that you can find out if she is alive or not?

@Shivram59 this is something different. This is people coming and asking for money and not paying it back but wanting it for whatever reason.

@Shivram59 That is a different story altogether. I am glad that they are honest and pay you back. The ones I am talking about just want money.

Here too we have strangers coming to the door and asking for money. SOmetimes they ask in the name of religion or sometimes ask for donations for some charitable organizations. We don't even know if the organizations exist or not. I never encourage giving money to strangers this way.

@Hannihar Not all beggars are poor. Some beg only because they feel that is an easy way of getting money.

@mayka123 I understand very well what you are saying. I wonder about those that beg on the streets if they are really poor and need the money or add to their collection that they have.

Not anymore, there used to be a number of unknown people who entered without permission when we found out they panicked as if they wanted to take valuables in the house.

Yes, it's a very common thing here. I also don't respond to them when I get a hint that they are beggars. These days most on traffic signals people have started asking for money.

There are quite a few homeless people in my community. A man rode to our house last year and said he'd mow our lawn for a fee. We agreed but since then he has been back- and having someone keeping an eye on when I am going in to the house and out makes me nervous. The last time he approached me I told him no I didn't want him to rake my leaves. (Not being tidy with leaves is better for the environment, too.)

@sallypup You have to stand up for yourself and say no when you do not want someone no matter what their situation is.

No, thank goodness I don’t have that problem . They aren’t allowed in the complex. If I were you. I wouldn’t open the door or acknowledge them

Before Covid19, we often had people coming knocking on the door asking us to donate this and that. Covid19 seems to stop all that for the time being.

@YrNemo We had someone the other day knocking on our door because I knew it was for money for our holiday starts the beginning of April. There are a lot outside and at the Wailing Wall.

The neighborhood that I live in does not allow solicitors in any way. But the way the world is now, most people do not often see them anymore, and if one does show up and ring the doorbell, they don't answer. Plus, many of us have outside camera systems that automatically show us who is out there, and if you don't want to answer, you just don't.

@MarieCoyle I figured the person showed up because our holiday is soon upon us and they want money. Not everyone opens the door.

@MarieCoyle These are people that come to doors and ask for money for their family or various reasons and not selling things but just want money from people. If I do not know them I do not answer the door. I sold Girl Scout cookies when I was a child. This is not the same thing.

@Hannihar No, I cannot recall hearing anyone having people just come to the door asking for money. But I do know that there are more homeless people all over the world than there has ever been before.
