News and scrambled eggs.

Good morning, friends. This is a chilly Thursday morning and I decided to bring my breakfast to my bed and have it under the covers while I watch the news. My breakfast will change now in relation to what I have been having during summer. Mornings are chilly now and although I open my glass door to greet Luna and the let fresh air in, I am under the covers and have one of my alpaca socks warming my feet. I will check again today my pantry and my freezer. And I will see if I am prepared to cook warmer food now. I have forgotten to check if I have enough ingredients to make a lasagna and I´m craving for it. And I also want to put to soak some black beans if I have the ingredients to make the recipe that a friend of mine who lived in Venezuela gave me. I have never tasted better beans and I remember that it has cumin and solid dark brown sugar (panela). Do you change you eating habits according to the season? I certainly do. Stews, casseroles and legumes will be in my near future. But now, I´m off for my scrambled eggs and warm bread to go with it. See you, friends

Your title made me giggle. Yes, I eat more smoked salmon and frozen fruit when it gets hot out but I still eat soups even in summer.

I remember when I would never eat soup but since I retired I have found it is easier to make soup than anything else other than spaghetti, I am not really much of a cook.

Good morning. Pretty and I eat more stuff made in the crock pot during the summer so the house doesn't heat up from cooking. I also cook at night so the air conditioner doesn't have to work as hard.

That´s a good idea. But during summer, I don´t usually like to eat casseroles or stews. For me summer food means more salads, sandwiches and cold cuts. I roast a chicken in my small electric oven at night and eat it cold in different ways.

@marguicha That's what we did when I was growing up on the farm. We usually run the air conditioner all Summer so it stay s nice and cold in the house. We like hot foods then.

@DaddyEvil I don´t have AC. But I clean the bird, add lots of butter and some salt and put it in the small electric oven. I don´t have to be near it warming my hands.

The only change I usually make in my eating habits is eating less meat during the rainy season. And the reason is because I hardly go to the market so prefer stocking on beans and pulses during the rains.

@marguicha The summers are hot here but the winters are not too cold. Rains do not make the weather too cold either.

@marguicha it's not that cold during the rainy season. It's just the sun does not sound as much and there is rain.

The dish is salty but with a tiny bit of brown sugar. It has a lot of other spices too.

@sallypup It is delicious. Ibn Venezuela they serve it with white rice and a special sort of shredded meat.

Hope you enjoyed your eggs and had a good day. Our really hot weather comes toward June and then I eat salads and other things that are cold most of the time,

Yes definitely. More salads and fresh grilled vegetables in summer, more soups and stews and stodgy puddings in winter!

I love scrambled eggs and do fix them at times. Of course, bread or toast has to go with it. Eggs are an excellent protein as well. I used to mostly just fix salads in the summers. But I really like them, so I have salads as often as I can. And as for soups, anymore they tend to follow my moods. I have some favorites, if it were just me here eating I would probably eat soup even more often than I already do! I can't have cumin. It's one of the things that makes my throat swell. Tastes good, but not worth going to the ER for in my case.

Yes, I have stews in winter. I also have lamb soup in winter too because it helps to warm up the body.

@marguicha Enjoy your warm food and your lasagna. I used to drink hot chocolate in winter but lately I have been drinking cold chocolate milk all year round.
