It has been decided: I am to have a new stove.

Both Carolina and Daniel had told me that the best stoves were new electric ones, the induction kind (whatever that is). I have had gas stoves all my life. I started to look online and to compare prices but when they came home they told me that the stove had been bought and that it would be sent to Carolina´s home. The new stove has no oven but if my old electric oven did not get burned, for me it is more than enough. My brother called me from the beach to direct things and was in shock and rage when I told him that the new oven was electric. I answered that he should talk with my grandchildren because I did not have anything to do with the decision. I wonder why some people want to direct all the ships while staying ashore. If he really had wanted to help, he should have returned from the beach as he knew of the fire before the firemen came. I love my brother but he has always been like that. He knows best about everything. Dixie has an electric ceramic stove (induction?) and she has tried to explain to me how to use it several times. I have not learned but I think that in part it has been because it is easier to have other people do things for you. But I set the table and I call my shopper when I´m staying there. She does not know how to shop online. I had to learn at home during the pandemia. What kind of stove do you have?

In the US, we can't buy gas stoves anymore. There was a ruling from some congressional body that gas stoves are to be unobtainable here because of fumes they give off even when they aren't turned on. The fumes can cause problems with our health. Our stove is an electric one. It was here when we rented this house.

From what I just read, the stove they bought was a new kind of electric stove. It seems that I will even have to use only some of my pots.

@DaddyEvil I´ll have to ask Carolina. She has one of those. Maybe she can tell me which pans to keep and which to give away.

@marguicha Yes, induction heat doesn't work with glass and aluminum pans. if you tried to use one, it wouldn't heat up. I believe you'll need to buy some new pots and pans.

I have gas because it comes with the apartment. It would be electric if I had my choice. I always had a electric stove at my home.

This is a new thing and apparently now all my pots will serve for it.

@marguicha That’s good that you don’t need to buy new cookware.

I have a gas stove. Hubby wanted it. Part of the reason was so that we would be able to cook even if the electric went out. I would still prefer electric.

I have had gas stoves all my life. And my husband bought this one in 1974 and then it was the best there was here. Part of it was German technology.

you will learn how to use it. I and my hubs are thinking of replacing our gas stove and oven with an electric stove and oven. We are just saving and studying how it will impact on the electricity bill. Electricity here is not cheap

This is a new special electric stove. It seems that I will not even be able to use all my pots.

@marguicha yes, the induction stove needs special pots, I think ceramic or something.

We have an electric cooktop and double wall oven. I can't imagine having a stove without an oven. Is that common there? You want to install a stove that will be attractive when you go to sell your house. I hope it all works out for you.

We still use a stove with a gas tank. But I am considering to buy an electric stove.

I used a ceramic stove in Monte Carlo. They banned gas in apartments and I "lost" my great gas stove. One of the reason I wanted to move from Monte Carlo was my hate for the ceramic stove. You will have to replace many of your pots and pans.

I have a propane gas stovetop in Connecticut and an electric glass top stove in Florida. My brother has an induction oven and stove and had to buy all new pots and pans for it. I love my gas stovetop the most.

We have always had gas and much prefer it but here in Ireland it is electric. I'm sure you'll get used to it quickly. I hope so.

I have a gas stove. I prefer gas stoves rather than electric. My aunt has an electric stove. I wasn't crazy with how it cooked food.

I currently have a gas stove and prefer it quite a lot over electric. I swear I will never go back.

That's good to actually replace some old items. Sometimes there are some broken parts that we don't realise.
