Nearly 24 hours after the procedure was done on my sister-in-law the doctor reported the great news. No cancer, no degenerative lung disease, nothing but the pneumonia. And, according to my sis-in-law, they cleaned the goop out so she should be getting better from that. She has other problems, too, including a surgically-repaired back that wasn’t repaired all that well, so it’s painful for her to do things. So she sits a lot, and that can lead to things like pneumonia. She also has anxiety, and the panic attacks can really mess things up. She had one her first night in the hospital and they called my brother because everything went in the wrong direction (heart rate up, breathing up, blood pressure up, etc.). I didn’t get to go see her today because…well, I can’t see much of anything right now. I had an eye appointment, and that comes with those nasty eye drops. Then the doctor shines a light in your eyes nonstop. Every time she’d take the light out I’d blink and see a new color. I started singing, “the girl with kaleidoscope eyes,” then said, “So that song wasn’t about drugs, it was about an eye exam!” She liked that one. But tomorrow I’ll chug back across the river and pay my sis-in-law a visit. I’m so thankful that there’s nothing critically wrong (not that pneumonia is a walk in the park, mind you; however, that is treatable). And I cannot say THANK YOU enough to all of you wonderful myLotters who’ve expressed your concern. What a great little family we have here!! The photo is of Cloudland Canyon in the state park in Georgia, taken on my recent trip.

It's great that the condition of your sister-in-law was treatable. I hope her recovery would be continuous. We do have a wonderful family here on MyLot. Take care and God bless,

Sorry I missed all the discussions and comments about your SIL. It can be really frightening and unnerving during the whole ordeal, but glad to hear the prognosis is good news. I hope she can kick that pneumonia’s butt and get those lungs completely healed. And I hope your eyes clear up quickly so you can see where you’re going!

They’re back to normal today. Kept most of the lights off at home last night. Now, after lunch, I get to go home and see exactly what I put in the washing machine last night.

@FourWalls I hope you didn’t accidentally put a pet in the washing machine thinking it was your fluffy blanket! Lol

That is GREAT news. I am so glad. Her surgery experience is one of the reasons that I would hesitate to get back surgery. I'm sorry hers did not go well. That's a beautiful photo.

My mom had two back surgeries and they helped minimally. One of the nurses told her that back surgeries are like Lays Potato Chips: you can’t have just one. So I’ll stick to Tylenol and Lidocaine for my back. That’s a gorgeous place.

@FourWalls Unfortunately my spinal problems hinder my walking and standing. One doctor said I needed back surgery ASAP; and one said "You're fine". Sigh.

Oh, I hate having to get drops in my eyes. They stay dilated for way too long to suit me. I am glad you can see her tomorrow; I hope she continues to heal and feels better soon.

Those back repairs are very tricky. She needs to move to keep her lungs clear. I had rather go to the dentist than the eye doctor, though I do both regularly.

I go to both as well. Dentists are easy…just take a couple of Tylenol about an hour and a half before the appointment. No pill will cure those eye drops.

Beautiful scene and good news too. That added to her other problems would have been really hard to bear. Thankfully she has caring and supportive family around her.

I understand she faces additional challenges, such as the discomfort from a poorly repaired back and dealing with anxiety and panic attacks. It can be tough, but with the right support and care, she can navigate through these difficulties.

I am so glad to hear things for your sister-in-law are not nearly as bad as they could have been. With anxiety and a panic attack that's the last thing her poor heart needed.

Indeed. I told my brother that, instead of the Addams Family, we were the Panic Family. I’ve taken many a ride to the ER in an ambulance over a panic attack, so I know what they can do to you. Thanks for your well wishes.

I’ve never been slugged by pneumonia before, but I had pleurisy so badly the initial ER doc thought I DID. I’ve had the vaccine as well.
