Quality time with my girlfriend today. We all age quickly. Gather ye rosebuds while ye may!

When Harper saw me today, her eyes lit up, as did mine, I'm sure. She wobbled over to me, planted herself in my lap, and said "ball!" Travis, who is two, found a ball, and we played rolly catch. Harper's throws were literally better today than they were yesterday. She was able to hold on to the ball a mili-second longer, and her throws went to Travis. She is 14-months old. Travis was able to understand that we were teaching Harper to play catch, and joined me in saying "We did it!" My hope is that these early "schemas" with stay with both children for their entire lifetimes. Travis as a sports teacher. Harper as a blossoming athlete. Carpe diem!

@TheHorse I hope so, too. At least you're helping give them a good start in that direction. Nobody can do more than that.

@DaddyEvil It gives the work I do "meaning." And frees me up to be a jerk here.

What cuties! It makes me think of the babies at my old daycare, and how old they must be now!

Heh. But aren't the things we learned when we were little still a part of us?

Even if they will never be sports teachers or athletes, playing ball will be part of their memories when they grow up.

I hope so. I like teaching anything that gives a sense of body control.

At some deep "sensori-motor" (Piaget) level, they will.

It's fun to see a 2-year-old nurturing a 1-year-old.
