It's nice to know there is a driver on board

Cars here often have signs in their back windows saying ‘Baby On Board’. Why this would make you more than usually careful I don’t know but I guess they like to let people know they have a baby. However, we saw something a bit different yesterday in a car window; a sign I haven’t seen before. I was pretty pleased to discover that there was a driver on board. Much better than the alternative, methinks.

I have bad feelings about all those driverless cars on the roads these days, I'd much rather know there was a real person driving ..... hmmmm I wonder if I could get a sign like that.

@rebelann Truth? My hubby wants more of the driverless cars so he can drive, too. He had to take a bus when he went on dates in his youth. He wants to drive, too.

For his sake I will pray that anytime he gets into one of those it will be safe.

They are not in general use here. Not in use at all really. I think this sign is just a bit of fun.

How nice of them to inform us that a ghost is not in charge of guiding that vehicle.

I would be pretty worried about a car that didn't have a driver.

Wasn't the "baby on board" sign meant to advise rescue workers to look for it (the baby) in the case of a crash?

That’s funny they have this sticker on their vehicle. The baby on board I am told is so in the event of an emergency people trying to rescue someone from a car knows there is a child in the back who cannot get themselves out of the car seat and out of the car.

@Judyev Kids in France who I taught were once shocked to see me arriving in school with no-one at the wheel - it was a car I’d brought with me from Ireland so steering wheel was on wrong side.

In those days it probably wasn't too common to see a RH drive vehicle.

How about "hooligan on board?" Everyone would get away from that vehicle quickly.

Well, as "driverless cars" now exist, may be he wanted to let people know that this is a "traditional" car with a human driving.

@JudyEv Considering how much people drive looking at their phones, I think that driverless cars are not so bad after all.

I want to keep seeing drivers on board. I always thought that the "baby on board" or whatever was a caution so that if there was an accident people would know to look for a baby.

That makes more sense. I hadn't thought of that except that lots of times there is no baby at the time. We have 'L' plates for learners who aren't supposed to drive without someone in the car with them but you see plenty of 'L' plates with only a driver.

Of course, it is important to have a driver onboard but that is only logical that there is one. I guess they wanted to be sure the cars behind them were paying attention to their car and did not bump into them,
