I cut my grocery list in four.

Some time ago I bought a big grocery list at the begining of the month and then very small extras the rest of the month. But I discovered that if I added all of them, the total was more than what I wanted to pay. So I decided to write down 4 small lists and in each one I would add one luxury item, not more. Today I asked for groceries again. The main amount is Luna´s food. I ask for a giant bag and it costs me around $ 25. The rest are small amounts of food for me and when I do it this way I can imagine what will I cook with what I have asked. In this list I discovered that they were substracting the pork meat that I hadn´t ordered the last time. So I edited my list and I asked for the meat I had ordered the last time. They are some steaks of pork loin that I love. I hope they arrive. Today I will make a big sandwich for dinner. I ate a big lunch so I´m not hungry. See you later.

@marguicha I understand. That's whey we go shopping twice a month. It's easier to plan meals and we get what we feel like eating.

I do pretty much like you do, Judy. I go once a month to Aldi first with a big list. Sometimes Costco, but not every month. I get all of my non perishables I need for that time, then I go about every 10 days or so for fresh produce, salad items, etc. I am not an impulse shopper, but I do try to be a bit flexible if something is on sale that I know we like and need.

You are so good at organizing your spending. Wow that is not cheap for Luna's food but it is also expensive here.

Luna is a great beast. She is a German shepherd. I am always checking that she eats her share but no more than that. Still, she eats 15 kilos of dry dog food plus some snacks I give her once in a while.

We went this morning grocery shopping, but I ordered the cat food online. I order a large quantity so I do not have to take care of this often.

@LadyDuck I don´t buy wet dog food for Luna. It is very expensive and I´m not sure that it is very good for her. So I give Luna the amount of food she needs in dog food and I buy bones to make a sort of bone and veggies soup when I´m in the mood. I also give her some leftovers.

@marguicha I buy online three big bags of dry food and 60 individual bags of wet food. It's enough for 2 months.

You are doing things the right way to divide your grocery up into smaller amounts. I order for a whole month all at one time because I usually buy things frozen that stay around a long time. However, if there had been a supermarket around here withing walking distance I know I would do better going once a week and getting things but around here we only have fast food places, pizza places, and convenience stores.

I have a supermarket at walking distance. I walked there when Leticia was with me. But I don´t dare walk alone now.

I ordered a very large order of food and had our housekeeper pick it up (hubby's cousin). It should last us for a while. I hope the way that you are ordering works out for you.

It's good you noticed it, so you could get it back, and your method of dividing your groceries into smaller lists is a practical way to save on cost. Have fun and enjoy your day.
