The Sound of Thunder

What a welcome sound on this parched earth. We are so dry, we're under a fire ban for the entire state.
I don't know how much rain we'll get. It would be nice if we got more than what they predicted. The picture I took a few minutes ago of wet pavement, is already dry.
You never know how enjoyable a sound is when you don't hear it in a long time. I even felt a few raindrops while I took pictures. I can tell you, it's pleasant to the ears.
I spent an hour outside earlier, drinking a hot lemon and reading a book a friend gave me. It's slow reading for me. I started over with it yesterday and have now finished the first two chapters. Maybe I can continue reading it this time. I want to get it back to her. It's not a slim book, but it is interesting. It's called The Clan of the Cave Bear. It will take me a while to read it as I just started working on a book.
I promised I would in this morning's Morning Brief. I'm working on Guns of War. It's an unfinished novel. Science fiction. Maybe I can get this one finished.
The aroma of wet earth is coming through the patio door. Its pungent aroma smells so good!

Jean M. Auel is an excellent writer. I own the Clan of the Cave Bear series. They're all well written and enjoyable. (You might not want to bother with the last book in the series, though. It doesn't measure up to the rest of the series.)
It is sprinkling here off and on today with the rumble of thunder in the distance. It's a nice sound to sleep to.

@just4him As long as you just want to know about the cave paintings in France, then the last book in the series is okay... But if you care about Ayla, then it's not really worth reading.

Our spring was colder, but we didn't get enough rain. At this time, we need a good soaker, too! It's too dry, I'd love to hear thunder and even lightening, if that would help matters in the least.

@kobesbuddy I love to watch it when I'm in bed, especially if it's thundering and lightning. Unfortunately, rain puts me to sleep quickly.

We haven't had any rain since May 5th. It is just so, so dry. All evening I can hear distant thunder, we were told ''very, very scattered showers'' and I fear they are not scattered in our direction. We just need rain, badly. I am glad you got some, now send it here, please!!

I was afraid everytime I overheard the rumblings and roars of thunder when I was a kid. I stayed in the bedroom covering or hiding myself under a blanket.
