How many books have you read so far this year?

I just finished reading the last book of The Last Hours trilogy Chain of Thorns by Cassandra Clare. It was over 778 pages long.
This makes it the 12th book I’ve read this year so far. My goal for the year is to read at least 65 books. I should’ve read way more than twelve books by now as I’m way behind.
I guess I can still reach my goal if I stick to reading smaller books but not sure if that will happen.

I just started Chain of Thorns... She's an excellent author. I love everything she's written so far.
I'm definitely behind in my reading this year. I've finished six books so far but I do read everything written on myLot. That takes up quite a bit of time...plus my eyes don't always let me read, too.
There's a reason I don't make "goals". I prefer to enjoy my reading.

I enjoy having a reading goal. It makes it more fun. And it encourages me to read more.

@lovebuglena I do not set goals, never. I know that I read a book in a few hours last months while waiting for my husband at the hospital. When I go with him and I wait for him, I have more time to read. The other days I only read in bed before sleeping.

Having a reading goal helps me to read more and it’s fun trying to get to a goal.

I don't really know but I know that I have read quite a bit. After a while I have a cycle and I reread books I have not read for some time. I have two series of books one is the Bones series by Kathy Reich and the other the Lucky series by Jackie Collins and each series has at least up to ten books in them. So I got through them again and then I choose individual books I have not read in a while, I just finished ready The Shining by Stephen King and always fine I like the ending in the book better than in the movie,

I loved the Bones tv show. Haven’t read the books though. I want to start re-reading books by Thomas Kinkade. Gotta get them from my mom’s house. Haven’t taken them when I moved.

With that many pages your book should count as 2 1/2.
So far I'm on #14

I have read 16 books so far this year. The book I have just finished is called `The Unheard' by Nicci French. This tells the story of how a three year old girl named Poppy picks up on things that are going on around her. The poor child has had a traumatic life so far because her parents are already split up. Poppy spends most of her time with her mother but she also goes to stay with her father and his new wife regularly. It is after one of these visits to her father that Poppy does a very disturbing drawing of a woman falling off a building. After that Poppy`s behaviour takes a turn for the worse. Her mother knows there is something bad going on and she sets out to find out more. But with only a three year old girl as a witness she will have her work cut out.
I enjoyed reading this book because it was very creepy in places. It was the sort of book that I could not put down once I began to read it.

I can't believe I am going to say this, but I haven't read any. I used to read over a 100 a year. I'm a really fast reader, and I would just devour books by the dozens. I just don't anymore, which would shock people who know me.
I'd still bet you can make your goal. You're doing great.

@lovebuglena It started out because I had eye surgery, and I couldn't read anything up close. It drove me nuts. I guess that got me so out of the habit, I never picked it back up, but also I realized how much money I spend on books. However, I did buy three books over the last couple of years that looked appealing. I have yet to read them, but they're there!

@AmbiePam you’ll get to them one of these days. I only buy books by a few select authors whose books I own already. Otherwise I borrow from the library. Can’t spend all that money on books. Plus they take up space. My wall organizer doesn’t have much room for books.

I really have no idea how many I've read. The last couple have been quite complex in a way and I've read them twice to help make more sense of them. Do you think I can count that as two books?

If you read it twice from front to back then I think you can count it as two books.

I haven't read anything this year besides magazines. I spend so much time on MyLot reading that I just end up vegetating in front of the TV. I know if I started reading a good book I wouldn't be able to put it down; but that hasn't happened yet. I don't get it. Have a good weekend.

All the more reason to pick up a book. Watching TV for hours can be exhausting and can actually lower one’s mood. Speaking from experience.
