Do cats fart?

Have you ever sat around playing music with a friend, his dog asleep at his feet, and suddenly been overcome with the incredible stench that can only occur when a carnivore farts?
Dog farts can envelop a room. But so far as I know, Kitty has never farted. She leaves a couple of cats worth of fur in my house every week, and occasionally drops a fur ball (they look more like turds than balls to me) on the balcony or outside my front door (I have trained her not to leave them inside my house ). But she has never once emitted a foul smell (nor even a fowl smell) in my house.
She spends most of her awake time grooming (or walking slowly directly in front of me, which is one of her ways of demanding food), so her coat never smells like "wet dog." Nor have I ever smelled anything bad coming from her insides.
Have you ever known a cat to fart? Can dogs be trained not to fart in front of "company"? Inquiring minds want answers to these questions.
Note: This post is dedicated to @Vandana7, my Secretary of Scatology. In a separate post I will detail why we shouldn't give cats milk, as I dinally (sic) did my research yesterday.

@Starmaiden Not unlike humans. But I remember my friend's daughter and her 11-year-old friends having a "farting contest" while she and I played music downstairs.

@TheHorse it is for females. My old tom cat used to belch and fart after every successful hunt.

Same as anyone, it depends on what we eat. And sometimes the smell is identifiable as to what was eaten. But I had an episode of slight flatuence this morning ( shocking, I know) and it smelled like canned tuna... and it's been a week since I had a quarter-cut tuna salad sandwich.
FYI: Trichobezoars are hairballs. Furballs are affectionate nicknames for any furry critter.

Pretty kitty. I don’t remember if my uncle’s cat ever farted but he went pooping right before my uncle was supposed to come home from work.

@lovebuglena I have no experience with kitty litter. Kittys bathroom is OUTSIDE my house.

@TheHorse I don’t know lol. I guess he didn’t wanna have the poop smell for a long time so he did it so my uncle could get rid of it quickly. Though I guess litter should eliminate the smell, no?

They can, though it's not common. It depends on weather a food doesn't agree with them or not.

Yes, cats fart. But, as we are their servants, we are obligated to do the Animal House thing and say, “Thank you, sir, may I have another” even as we’re choking on the stench.

@wolfgirl569 Whew! Kitty is sunning herself on the balcony and has no comment.

I had to look up that one because even though I have had cats all my life this is something I did not know. Here is what it says online.
Turns out, cats do fart, and it could mean you should look for the best cat food for allergies or keep an eye out for underlying health issues.

I thought I heard a tiny 'squeak' coming from my cat's rear end one day. I asked her about it but she denied it. That was the last time I offered her any egg salad.

Smart move. I love egg salad because it gives me glorious farts. But I am civilized (just ask @LadyDuck; she has helped train me) and don't share them with others. I offered Kitty some tuna once, but she prefers her foul-smelling wet food.

@DevMrSamEleazar I'll have to do more research on the importance of butt cheeks for glorious fart sounds. Thanks for the new rabbit hole.

I only know about dogs. No, dogs can't be trained not to fart. You also can't train people not to fart. Enjoy your day.
