Aging Ain't Fun

No, it certainly is not. I have come across some interesting sayings down through the years that have kept me going...
As Gilda Radner said in an article for New Woman in 1986, "Here I am just getting the hang of growing up when I'm faced with the dilemma of growing old." Ugh! I don't like to even think about it.
Of course, It's wonderful to grow old if you remember to stay young while you're doing it. Now that's the trick of enjoying the heck out of life. Finding the fun in it is what constitutes 'the adventure of life'.
I try not to worry about the final outcome too. And, as I have to remember: Don't worry about senility, if you get it you won't know it.
So, what do you think? Am I on the right track?

As that great sage and poet, Jimmy Buffett, said, “I’m growing older but not up.”
The pains of middle age suck, but as Buffett said (in the same song), I’d rather die while I’m living.

Jimmy Buffett also said, ''Wrinkles will only go where the smiles have been.'' For some reason, as I grow older I have always remembered that when learning to accept my wrinkles!

I wish I still felt now like I did when I was 52...

@BarBaraPrz I'll second that. I'd be happy to be 52

It's getting to senility that worries us, after we're there all's well.

I agree with Fiacre. Growing old is not for sissies. It sucks!

Me too. I'm too curious as to what happens in the world and with my kids.

It is all "mind over matter". If you forget, and do not mind, it does not matter.

If I am to say something about the physical changes that comes with aging, I say I'm there with you. Now that I am older, I see to hear more and more parts of my body that pop. I also wake up with a body ache - who gets hurt from sleeping?
Hopefully with my newfound active lifestyle, I am able to still somehow enjoy activities.

Yes you are. Though I am a few years younger than you, I am not far behind you and I am noticing. There is no going back though, so nothing to do but go forward.

And get the nutrients we need and stretch each day. That helps me.

I often forget I am old or in my sunset years and then get a little scared when I suddenly see myself in a mirror. But as long as I feel just fine I don't let it get to me and I just rock on,

Yes, the mirrors should all be covered or taken down I think after age 55. It's weird cause my mind is still that of me in my 30s or 40s but the body is that of an 80 or 90 year old and I'm 71.

I'm thankful that I'm aging fairly well with just some basic aches and pains. I do see that I've slowed down though and can't do as much as I used to without getting tired.

@Marilynda1225 ...........I have one knee and one hip. It's because I have one leg shorter than the other.

Things certainly have changed. Priorities also change. Day-to-day is where it's at, that's for sure.
