Laminate wood floors

Previously I have lived in homes with carpeted floors, but I got tired of having to shampoo them once every month or so. I felt then that wooden floors would be much better. When we moved into this apartment I was happy to see that all the floors except for the bedrooms were laminate wood floors. Until I walked into my daughters bathroom. For some reason, that floor is just like the rest of them but, it is very slippery!. I have almost fell on my butt in there several times. When my grandson is playing he almost falls and get's hurt on these hard floors! I guess I was mistaken.

This house has laminate wood floors in the kitchen and bathroom. I haven't noticed them being slippery, though, unless they were wet. Pretty always warns me if she's mopped the floors so I don't fall and get hurt. Have you looked into getting area rugs for the floors? Maybe that would be better for you?

Why do you think it is slippery? Maybe you can place some anti-slip mats. :)

@freelancermariagrace I am not saying that they won't. I am sure they will.

Hmmmm, let's see, why do I think they are slippery. Maybe because I have almost fell in there several times. So have other people including guests. I will tell my daughter about getting the mats for her bathroom.

I understand the risk, but I hate how carpet just keeps everything within its crevices. It’s so much more hygienic to have floors other than carpet. My bathroom floor did strike me as slippery, so I got those “grippy” kind of hospital socks when I first moved here. Now, I’m so used to it, I don’t need to be so cautious anymore.

We have parquet on all bedrooms and tiles in the other rooms. Real wood floors are not slippery.

@dfollin I have carpets on the wooden floor, but NOT carpeting, it's not healthy. I can wash the carpets in a big washing machine.

I can't imagine shampooing carpets that often. I wonder why that floor is so slippery? I live with real wood floors and fake wood floors and don't have issues.

@dfollin I hear you on sweeping. That floor must be super polished to be so slippery.

Wooden floors is more slippery for sure, but had less cost of maintenance. You need a pair of non-slip slippers. There was wooden floor in our bedroom, but ceramic floors in rest of room,we always wear non-slip slippers.

I have laminate flooring. I ike it better than carpet. It doesn't have to be vaccumed all the time, and it looks nice. Some carpeting is very cozy though. My parents have really plush nice carpeting.

We had wood floors in our last house but the bathrooms and laundry were tiled. I wish we had them in this house. I prefer them to anything else.

When I was growing up we had wood floors. But I didn't have to clean them then. Now I sweep them and they are dirty from dust, I guess with in a few minutes. Then I have to mop them too.Kid's as well as adults can fall and get hurt on those hard floors.

We have throw rugs in the bathroom. You just have to be careful not to catch your foot on the rugs. Have a good day.
