The deadly bird flu has once again appeared in the United States. Avian influenza was confirmed in 47,300 turkeys in South Dakota and 141,800 birds in Utah.
Last year's bird flu was present in nearly 59 million birds in 47 states...the deadliest outbreak ever which cost the government $660 million and caused a spike in prices for the average consumer. Experts are hoping that these outbreaks are isolated incidents. Farmers must be ever diligent and keep droppings of wild birds from getting into poultry barns. Droppings can be brought in on farm equipment, workers' shoes and clothing, mice, small birds and dust particles.
Breakfast - Belvita Breakfast Biscuits
Lunch - Meals on Wheels - Hawaiian chicken, rice, mixed veggies, peas and tropical fruit
Dessert/Snack - Cheesecake and decaf coffee
Dinner - None
What did you eat yesterday?

Lunch - Pasta with herbs
Dinner - Soy Chunks with carrots and peas and brown and wild rice.
I hope you are well.

I'm sorry to hear there's another outbreak of the bird flu. This time with turkeys. Just in time for Thanksgiving. I hope turkeys won't be outrageously priced.
Your lunch and snack sound good.
Yesterday: Breakfast - bananas and milk. Lunch - meatloaf and mashed potatoes with sour cream and garlic. That was enough, not even a snack after that delicious meal. Well within my calorie budget.

That's scary about the bird flu. This might be a dumb question, but has it ever crossed over to humans?

@LindaOHio It's terrible for all the bird populations, but hopefully it won't pop up in humans.

Do they have to kill the infected birds, or can they nurse them back to health with some delicious chicken noodle soup, Thera-Flu, and a hot bath?

Chicken and turkey are expensive enough. We don't need another outbreak.

That bird flu thing is terrible. So many delicious chickens have to be killed that can't be eaten. But it is what it is. You;d think they'd come up with some kind of a vaccine or something.
For dinner last night I made a homemade version of Hamburger Helper and had some poor man's garlic bread on the side.
