More shootings across the US. Will you be going to any large parties this Halloween weekend?

it seems that a lot of the mass shootings that happen in the US occur at large parties. I think I will avoid large parties this weekend and at other times. I enjoy being out in public, but it's generally when I have something to achieve, like get groceries or wood stain, or maybe even watch a sporting event I also enjoy small parties, especially when we all know each other and music is involved. Large parties, and even things like New Years celebrations, have never really appealed to me. Do you enjoy large gatherings? Or would just as soon stay at home with loved ones?
At least 6 people are dead and over 40 have been injured after multiple mass shootings across the country during the Halloween weekend, according to officials.

Large affairs could be a target for mass shootings. I don't enjoy large gatherings. I have social anxiety so I stay right at home.

My kids have gone to some smaller parties this weekend. I don't think we'll be going to any large events, like the Halloween festival on Castro Street in SF, as those tend to get super crowded and overwhelming.

I'd rather give candy to happy kids in their costumes.

@TheHorse Absolutely! Having fun snacks at home with a good movie after the kids are done is more my speed.

I’m not a party person, and the more people that are expected to show, the less likely I am to attend. Wanna get shot? Go to a block party.

You know how many that is now, 570, I am not sure but over 550 and that is on pace for two a day across country for a whole year. Meanwhile, Russia is like we have not even killed 550 Ukrainians in that time. Bad joke but it sure does get the point across.

@TheHorse People starting to get technical AR Automatic rifle but AR does not mean that for the 15, but is that their excuse? Still kills people very quickly and if that is where we are at with the defense, then this country is sad.

@crossbones27 I don't know what weapons these people have. All I have is a single shot bolt action .22 with a small clip that jams. I do not take it out of the house here.

Without Arms control, Change in cultural mindset, Not educating school and college kids about respect for others' lives are seemingly the biggest factor. Plus may be other factors. Sad sad news. I prefer gatherings with moderate or slightly low numbers. Else it's better to enjoy relaxing time at home.

@TheHorse Yes that is the case in many folks but in many cases, it is perhaps the time to rethink for the whole society.

Some of that education comes from family values. We have subcultures here where life seems not to be valued. Plus our mentally ill run rampant. Most are not violent. But some are.

I was once more into going out to parties and gatherings. My husband is more of a homebody and after being together 35 years I’m more content to stay home. I still occasionally like to go out though.

Particularly now that we're older, large gatherings hold no attraction for us. Even less so, if there were shooting involved.

I used to love big parties and Halloween was a huge party as I went to the masquerade Ball in Georgetown. But these days I would think twice. A small party would be for me to stay safe. You never know when someone will go off on their rocker.

The older I get the less I like large crowds and a lot of loud noise. I would prefer staying home. Have a good week.
