After a petition from West Coast Native American tribes, United States regulators will be reviewing the use of the chemical 6PPD. This chemical is found in almost every tire and has been used as a preservative in tires for 60 years. It is also found in footwear, synthetic turf and playground equipment. The tribes are saying that it kills coho salmon, steelhead trout and other aquatic wildlife. Tire manufacturers are already looking for an alternative. When tires wear, tiny particles of rubber are left behind. The chemical breaks down into the byproduct 6PPD-quinone which is deadly to aquatic wildlife when washed into the waterways by the rain. Joseph L. James, spokeperson of the Yurok Tribe, stated, "We could not sit idle while 6PPD kills the fish that sustain us..." There was also a communique to the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), citing the chemical's "unreasonable threat" to their waters and fisheries.
The southeastern US is experiencing the spread of an invasive arachnid species, the Joro spider. Due to climate change, these yellow-banded spiders have been found as far north as Maryland. They have also been seen in Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, Maryland, Oklahoma and West Virginia. They can use a method called ballooning which allows them to sail on air currents to new locations. The Joros are replacing native species of spiders and catching and eating any type of insect that it catches in its immense, strong webs. They are native to Japan, Korea, Taiwan and China. More studies are being done to determine what other impact the Joro spider is having on the ecosystem.
As you've already heard, a strong El Nino winter is coming. The southern third to half of the US, including California is likely to be wetter than normal, while the Pacific Northwest and Ohio Valley will likely be dry and warm. There may be extra s**w in the mountainous regions of the west and the southern part of the Rocky Mountains, Four Corner States, Texas and Oklahoma panhandles and the southern Appalachia region. But nothing is written in stone; and anything can happen. We'll just have to wait and see.
Polls show that Trump is leading in popularity in 5 key states.

The stars seem to be aligning is all I can say. Trump will be our next president. I even think it may be a landslide. Take that for what it's worth.
As for all this climate change mumbo jumbo, I liken it to religion. It's BECOME a religion. Just like religion, a question only gets one answer. How did the trees and animals and life come about? God. Why did the spiders move? Climate change.
We now have a scientific community who has gone into remote work. They've left the lab. They're out golfing and enjoying life and only have one box to check to answer everything.
Why did the wind blow from the East today? "Well, you see, it was climate change." Nothing more required. Nothing more to ask.
Like, "How did that platypus get a duck's bill?" "I don't know. God works in mysterious ways." Again, nothing more required. Nothing more to ask.
Suddenly I want to come out of my recent retirement and become a scientist. I mean, come on. It'd be the easiest job I could ever have. Just blame climate for everything and my work is done. lol

What is causing the ice shelf to melt? Whether it's climate change or a cyclical thing...it's happening.

@porwest If you'll read my response again, that's what I'm saying. Regardless of what the cause is, it is HAPPENING.

@LindaOHio We have gone through ice ages, there were glaciers in New York at one time, the Sahara desert was once under water. The Earth has been seeing changes in climate since its first day. Nothing has changed. Humans aren't causing it. It's called NATURE.

Oh good grief, Trump only had one good idea while in office and that was to protect the US border by Mexico. And as for Biden, I really don't know if he has done anything worthwhile but I do believe he is more for the environment than Trump was.
What really bugs me is that neither one of them is young enough to be trusted in the presidential position.

I know there is a petition pending also here in Switzerland to ban 6PPD. The problem is about all the trucks and cars that circulate here every day from Europe. They should also ban this chemical.
The experts say that El NiƱo years have a tendency to have a mild wet and westerly start to winter (Nov-Dec) and a colder, drier end to winter (Jan-Mar) across most of northern Europe. In southern Europe, it could bring wetter conditions overall. Well we are "in the middle"... what to expect?

@LindaOHio We are using so many dangerous chemicals, I wonder how is it that we are "surprised" that so many people has cancer, those chemicals cause cancer.
Today is sunny and bright and COLD.

@LadyDuck Yes, they always talk about a cure for cancer....how about getting rid of all the things that cause cancer? It's chilly here but not cold. Stay warm and have a good day.

That's a shame about the 6PPD. We keep finding more and more things that are poisoning our planet. We'll just have to see about the El Nino winter. I hope it's milder as they are saying.

I am glad to hear they are going to be reviewing the use of this compound. I hope they can get rid of it.
I hate hearing of how Trump is leading in so many states. It is so scary. This man doesn't have a drop of humanity in him and is pure poison for this country.

There was at one point on earth--almost 5784 years ago-- that earth was looked at with love, kindness and tenderness as, "it is very good."
But humans, as the centuries wore on, have corrupted themselves--- wickedness was, and still is, has messed up every intent of the thoughts and hearts and is evil continually. Earth is carrying on the burden. Humans reap what they sow. Just the law of nature.
But on an optimistic light, there still are men and women, who keep the good, kindnesses, the Law of God in their whole being (heart, soul, mind and strength) and DO good at every turn. Natural law and its elements, in turn, is delighted to do very well for our existence and LIVING it real good... making our lives and those around us better... to great.
Thanks.
