What brand just doesn’t agree with you?

I am not out to bash any brand out there, because what is bad for me, could be excellent for you. When I think of a brand I’ve tried over the years, and every time it has irritated my skin, Olay comes to my mind first. After the third time (over a period of years, and always different products) of an unsuccessful use, I quit buying them altogether. I just couldn’t believe every Olay product would irritate my skin. When they would come out with something specific I thought could help me, I’d think, oh, it’s been years. Surely it won’t bother me this time. Nope! Do you have a brand of any product you just cannot use?

I can't use Tide at all. I get skin rashes if I wash my clothes or bedding with Tide. We switched to Arm & Hammer Liquid laundry detergent and have had no problems at all.

That’s so odd. But it’s great that you found one that does work without aggravating the heck out of your skin.

@AmbiePam I have always had allergies. It's just nice to find something I can use without having to take medication all the time when I use it.

One of the things I have to be careful of is toilet paper. Some are really irritating and you'd think it would be one of the things they'd try to get right! We've switched to a bamboo paper made by a company called "Who Gives A Crap" who are eco-friendly and that's been good.

I heard of bamboo toilet paper, but I have never tried it.

Wendy's (the fast food burger place). This is years ago, but every single time I have tried their food, particularly the square burgers, I got sick. So I associate Wendy's with stomach aches and never eat there .

Ooh, that would get to me. Well, thanks to @TheHorse talking about his meat at Arby’s looking green, I can never eat there again. That was months ago, but it is stuck in my head.

@AmbiePam Oh my gosh, I think I know that Arby's green - I don't know if that's the nitrates doing that or what. Weird looking and worse than seeing gray, but I haven't encountered or thought of that in a long time. Oh but I do like Arby's - so much that maybe I'd cover it in tons of Arby sauce .

Hmm, I can't think of anything in particular that I can't use because of an adverse reaction to it.

I can't really think of any myself. As far as I know, I am only allergic to certain medicines, and don't have really issues with any "products" out there.

Hmm can't think of any particular brand, but I know anything with real mint in it I can't use. It gives me weird skin rashes.

Tide. As a kid, even before I knew about allergies and such, I would go down the detergent row in any store and get a headache, and start sneezing. Eventually I pin pointed the Tide detergent as being the culprit in my reactions.

You and DE both have bad Tide experiences, huh. I wonder if they got a lot of complaints, and that is why they made Tide Free and Clear. Not that I’d use is if the original bothered me.

Thankfully, detergents and that sort of thing have never bothered me. For a long time my Mom couldn't use Bounce dryer sheets because they made my grandmother, who was living with us at the time, itchy or something.

For me it is Cheerios cereal. I poured some into a bowl one day and there was an unidentified object in it. I took a picture of it and sent it to the company in an email. I believe that it was a piece of melted plastic, quite large in size, and purple and black, not the colour of the cereal at all. It made me sick to think that this was lurking near the bottom of the box and I had eaten the top half of it and worried about germs and such.

@AmbiePam I did and it was so strange. They sent me many many coupons for General Mills products. But I could not use them, I did not feel safe enough to.

I can't think of anything in particular. I don't seem to be particularly sensitive to any cosmetics or laundry detergents, but then I don't use many anyway. The only thing that comes to mind is fruit teas in general; although I like the idea of them they almost always give me a sore throat!

Really? Is it some sort of acidity, do you think? They certainly sound good just thinking of them.

I have sensitivity to most soaps. For dish soap, I can tolerate Palmolive, but absolutely cannot use Dawn or any other dish soap. It's a good thing I have a dishwasher. It's the same with body wash and shampoo. I've been through every one of them. The only one I can use is Suave.

@AmbiePam I didn't want to try it because it was cheap. I finally had no choice and was afraid it wouldn't work either. I was surprised when it did. I only wish they still made Dove for dishes. It was the only dish soap that totally agreed with me, then they stopped making it. I went through many detergents until I found one I can tolerate.

I used to use Always brand pads and they started using scents in the pads and I didn't want scented pads so I decided to switch to U by Kotex. It was fine for awhile until I decided to do a product test of pads and one brand of pads irritated me. I told them and I tried to ask them what brand it was, but they never responded. Then I couldn't wear U by Kotex anymore. I switched to L. pads. I also bought some washable pads which I love. I also can't wear mascara because it irritates my eyes.

I use a cream that I use for my face. I use a different body lotion though. In winter I have to use a all purpose cream which is more oily.

I have sensitive skin and because of that I need to refrain from products that use a lot of chemicals and perfunes ... the only makeup I haven't had any problems with almay so far but I'm at that age where I don't care about makeup anymore so I don't buy any of that stuff anymore.

I can't think of anything besides this powder makeup decades ago that made my skin break out. It had a corn base or something like that. Oh, and I can no longer wear any fragrances. There has been a chemical change in my body; and every fragrance ends up smelling terrible. Hope you have a good day.
