I'm tired!

We've put up several deer in the freezer already this year. It's so flavorful and much less expensive than beef. Dale decided to try making some venison sausage. A friend gave us some that was yummy. So we've spent most of today preparing that. I fried a small patty before we froze it to see if it needed anymore spices, but it was fine. The sausage had to be ground twice for some reason. We use beef fat with the regular venison and pork fat for the sausage. I like to add some sausage to the venison burger when I cook spaghetti, meatloaf, meat balls, soup, chili... Got the kitchen cleaned up, now myLoting for a while. Yay, we get to go to church in the morning. A friend is preaching, so we try to always be there when he delivers the message. I'll be glad when Dale can preach and I can sing, again. Have a baby shower to go to tomorrow afternoon. I wrapped a couple of Christmas gifts yesterday. Not much to shop for...kids like money. I bought two bracelets and two perfumes (Chanel No 5 and Tresor) for Dale to give me. We're not wealthy, but it's hard to think of something to buy. Very blessed, for sure. I love to listen to my Christmas play lists...makes it feel more like Christmas. Is there something special that puts you in the Christmas spirit?

I've started going to YouTube for instrumental Celtic Christmas music. I find I write more freely when the old time carols play on dulcimers and violins.

I have to say, I am quite envious of your venison loot. Very good stuff, but I don't hunt so I rarely get any.

If you lived closer, I'd give you a few packs. Dale's the only hunter I trust to eat venison the way he cut and cleaned it.

@porwest It doesn't get rid of the wild taste if it's not cleaned right. I cooked a pot of soup for a couple of friends and I didn't know if they like venison or not, so I used hamburger. It wasn't nearly as flavorful.

@1creekgirl Yeah, I imagine some people do it a bit wrong and in less than sanitary conditions, which can make one quite suspect for obvious reasons.

Right now my system is not geared for the holidays yet and I cannot handle Christmas music, I will try to remedy things by putting out my purple sparkly lights, my little Christmas tree, and my manger tomorrow and see how my cats like Christmas, That should be enough excitement for me for a few days

I lost Christmas spirit the last couple years so working on finding it this year. Lights, the smell of trees, and watching the kiddies get excited is helping.

Our small artificial Christmas tree arrived today although we'll actually be house-sitting over Christmas. You have been busy. I hope you don't overdo it.

We decorated the church today, and dedicated a new sound booth as a memorial for someone who has passed. Both of his adult kids were there and their spouses. They are people I have known for years. I love the decorations and the memories that people have of making or buying them.

My dad ordered my Christmas gift yesterday…with me sitting right next to him. I asked for a Golden Girls calendar, and that’s what he got me! I did not know deer was cheaper than beef. That is wonderful that you will be saving money. Church tomorrow for you will undoubtedly be blessed. If they are a friend of yours, I know he must speak the Truth. I get concerned how many preachers these days seem to go off track in what the Bible really says.

Usually listening to Christmas music. I was listening to some on Sirius yesterday, but the only channel I could find playing Christmas music was something from the Big Band era. I have to be careful with my internet use until the 8th so didn't want to stream Alexa or anything, so I guess I am going to have to dig out some CD's!

The sausages sound like a big under-taking and alot of work. We do not buy alot of gifts, just for our son, his wife and the twins. My hubby was out for several hours last weekend shopping for me, not sure what he bought, but the fact that he did go out is heartwarming as he dislikes shopping so much. I have a couple of more items to pick up for him and then I will have all of the gifts.

You sound like you had a very busy weekend. My grandson just started hunting this year but I haven't heard that he brought home a deer. I assume he wasn't successful. My weekend was fairly busy too finishing up the decorations around the house and wrapping Christmas presents. You're right about the kids liking money. I got some nice cards to put cash in for them this year. I'm already in the holiday spirit and love this time of year.

I had to laugh when you said you bought gifts for Dale to give you. That's how I am. Hubs never knows what to get me; and he knows I'm picky. We don't exchange gifts anymore; but when we did I usually bought something for myself. I love listening to Christmas music. My favorite is Mary Did You Know sung by Pentatonix or Clay Aiken. Have a great day. Here's the Pentatonix version. I hope you'll enjoy it.
