Do you think Trump will get away with home confinement? I have a six-pack of beer resting on it.

It's kind of fun watching Glen Kirshner and Michael Cohen argue. They are both lawyers. One (Cohen) did time (in an fairly high-lux prison) for being Donald Trump's "fixer." I believe the other is a prosecutor. Cohen seems to think that Trump will get away with home confinement, no matter how many crimes he is convicted of. Kirshner thinks he will not. Kirshner also thinks it's important that Trump "get time" to show future wannabe dictators that democracy will not tolerate that kind of behavior. My Santa Barbara friend and I have a bet going. My friend thinks that Trump will get away with home confinement. I think he will do time. What do you think? I will attach a link to the rabbit hole I went down this morning.

Home confinement for such serious horrendous crimes?? That makes zero sense to me. That makes our rule of law a total clown show. The caste system is alive and well if this is even contemplated.

@TheHorse Good question. I had a rich Uncle. He made it quite apparent that his poor relations stayed on one side and he and his stayed on theirs though he was quite good to us.

What I really think is that there will a suspended sentence if he agrees to stop pursuing the presidency or any other elective office. Prosecutors do have an option to do that. There is a certain document he would have to sign..but so many cases, really not sure how it will all shake out

I agree with what Lenore said. I think he will push all of it as far as he can. He is a liar and has proven he cannot to be trusted so why any judge would allow home confinement is beyond me.

@celticeagle I may do some reading about the rise and fall of ancient Greece. I respect guys like Socrates and Plato. Could a Dysfunctional Dyslexic lead to the fall of one of the great Democracies of our time?

He will not go to jail. He will be confined "may be", or he will arrive to sign a sort of agreement and he will escape jail.

@TheHorse Yes I drink Scotch, a little bit every evening while I watch TV. Trump will reach an agreement.

@LadyDuck That IS an interesting hypothesis. But I think he is too "proud" to reach an agreement.

I totally agree. Especially in these times where a lot of people stay home anyway, how much of a deterrent to future wannabe dictators would home confinement be?
