Crazy day

I won't say George is declining, but we did hit a snag. His blood sugar shot up to over 500, and while we caught and are correcting it, his heart is having a hissy fit over it and keeps going into AFIVagain. Nurse is working on getting a hold of the doctor, while the monitor reminds me his heart rate is out of wack. Otherwise, he's all good.

Is there not a doctor on the ward that he's in? That seems awfully weird that there isnt a doctor there that can see him

Doctors do round daily and see patients, but they also work in other hospitals and have their own offices sometimes. They are on-call in case of an emergency. But, it's not like your typical doctor's office. In the hospital you often deal with nurses and nurse aides.

I hope they can figure out why his blood sugar keeps going up. Hopefully the AFIB can be controlled with medication.

oh wow, sorry to hear that....about the really high blood sugar and his heart not handling that well. Hopefully things get better soon

Someone needs to be monitoring him more closely. That shouldn't have happened. It must be terrifying.

Did he struggle before all of this happened with his blood sugar? I know that medicines can increase the levels if one isn't use to taking them. That sure is a high spike all of a sudden. Hope that the doctor was reached and George is doing better now.

I'm sure sorry. I know you both want to move forward without snags involved. That's a wild sugar level, hope it goes down soon.
