This freaked me out

I was in the bathroom yesterday when all of a sudden I heard a loud noise, like something turned on. And it wouldn’t stop. It startled me and freaked me out a bit. I started to panic. I ran out of the bathroom to see where the sound was coming from. Thought it may be coming from outside but when I neared the bedroom window I heard nothing. Went downstairs and the sound became louder. Went down to the first floor and noticed that the contractor’s vacuum was working. I fumbled with the power button and it turned off. It was partially plugged into the outlet so I unplugged it just in case. I wonder why it turned on all of a sudden, especially when there was no one down there to turn it on. It doesn’t make any sense.

It sounds like a story that could be featured in the former television series "The Twilight Zone." I can understand why you were scared over a noise coming from outside.

Strange things are known to happen. I was sitting by my PC one night watching a DVD and in our cold weather I have the AC off and it is in a window right by the PC. As I was watching my series suddenly the digital lights came on the AC and a second later turned off. I tell you that spooked me, My AC stays plugged in,

I guess a device doesn’t need to be fully plugged in to start working.

I don't know what to tell you. That would freak me too. Especially if there was no auto-settings to make it do that.

If the contractor had left it on it’d be working the entire time. But it wasn’t until hours later.

Maybe it was switched on but not going because it wasn't plugged in properly. Then maybe the wires made a connection and it started up. Very unlikely I guess but it's the only explanation I can think of.

Sometimes weird things happen. A woman said that the laptop turned on and no one was there.

Weird things do happen for sure. There have been times when the doorbell rang but when I went to open the door no one was there. And sometimes the storm door opens by itself, even when not very windy outside.

No doubt it was some kind of power surge, and you were smart to unplug it.

This is weird, I wonder how it could turn on by itself.

Maybe it wasn’t totally turned off and there was some electric current from it being plugged in slightly, which made it turn on.

Well, never know. I have this little statuette of an animal and it keeps moving of its own accord. Like I will put it in one spot but then some time later I notice it is not where I had put it but slightly to the side. How do you explain that?

That's freaky that it would turn on by itself.

@lovebuglena Yes, but how did it get turned on?

@just4him Must have been some connection still even though it wasn't fully plugged into the outlet. But then why hadn't it turned on sooner?

@lovebuglena A ghost that apparently doesn't like filth. Maybe Ghostbusters could be of help? Or maybe you can take advantage of the situation and have the ghost simply vacuum the house? lol
