An incredible blessing

I know you all were sick of hearing about my "future foot surgery."
I finally got cleared from the doctor with the last surgery and made a long overdue appointment with my Orthopedic doctor.
Dale and I were both praying for her to find a good solution. I really dreaded 12 or more weeks of recovery and probably even longer if she decided to amputate the toe.
She looked at my last MRI, we talked a lot and she was kind of surprised that the toe doesn't hurt as much now as it did at first.
I told her I can definitely live with this...it only gets painful after I've walked a lot the day before.
She figured out that most likely the chemo I had last year has caused some neuropathy in my feet which has lessened the pain in my toe.
So, she decided not to operate. We were so excited! The doctor said she could give me a steroid injection later if I need it.
God answered our prayers for sure. She said the toe will never heal completely, but at least the neuropathy is preventing some of the pain.
Never thought I'd have a reason to appreciate any effects from chemo. Other than fighting cancer cells, that is.
I feel like I can finally start living. You all have no idea how much your prayers and concern have meant to me this past year.
Maybe now I can write about something other than illnesses and surgery!

@Marilynda1225 What a wonderful legacy for you! I don't know about my mother, but my Grannie was a prayer, too.

@1creekgirl My grandmother was a prayer. She would sit in her rocking chair and have a whole bunch of people she would pray for. If you needed prayers you asked my grandmother. My mother seemed to inherit her praying when my grandmother passed so then my mom would be the "go-to" person. Now it's me...guess its in our blood to pass along the praying torch.

Isn't it amazing how life can change so quickly...sometimes good and sometimes not. But God is so merciful beyond even what we can think to ask Him for.

Me, either! Chemo has had so many bad side effects, but I'm thankful for this one.

@Juliaacv I'm blessed with a wonderful husband, loving kids, and friends like you and my other myLot buddies. My strength comes from the prayers and love I've received. I know for a fact that I can do "all things through Christ who strengthens me." But only through His grace and mercy.

The doctor said the damage to my toe won't improve, but the pain is less because of the Nuropathy from chemo treatments. Thank you for your kind words.

It won't improve, but isn't it wonderfully weird that the neuropathy from chemo is lessening the pain and changing the need for surgery? Technically, I still need the surgery and if I were 20 years younger, I'd probably get it. But at 76, I don't have but so many more years to enjoy life and I don't want to waste so many months on recovery if I don't have to.
Linda, your prayers and support this past year mean more than I can ever tell you.
