Going Back in Time

Here is another memory of my darling cat Sid. One summer it was a particularly hot day. We were heading for the store and as usual first we wanted to see what Sid was up to. Since he was used to roaming in the garden and coming and going as a completely independent cat we always made sure we checked on him before we went anywhere. I looked inside and Martin looked outside. We met by the front door and no Sid. We looked all around and suddenly we both saw him at the same time. He was sleeping on the front walk, near the garden gate, his head in the shade resting on a leafy plant, and his body in the sun. With his fur he didn’t have to worry about getting sunburned just a bit over heated but we knew if he felt too hot he would go inside. So we didn’t disturb him and just unlocked the garden gate and headed for the store. When we returned Sid had removed himself to a cooler spot.

I do notice that behavior of my cat Burt who likes to sleep in my bed while I am away during daylight hours or look out from the window until he decides to find another place to feel comfortable.

You never know what odd place they might choose to hang out.

@JudyEv that darndest thing is that if we were not looking for him and just heading for the gate we might have stepped right on him or tripped over him
