An Update on Dad

So, I just got off the phone with my Dad and they could not do the stent procedure. The doctors determined that there was simply too much risk.
There is, however, a double edged sword silver lining. I call it that because while there is good news, it of course comes with a bit of a caveat.
He will need a quadruple bypass and he will be going back on Wednesday to consult with the surgeon as to the procedure and all of the parameters, and then the surgery will be scheduled.
It's good news in that the bypass is something he needed but was not healthy enough to undergo. But with that kind of a surgery, it is of course rife with complications and a very high level of risk.
He is in good spirits and is already making plans for the future. He's a fighter. The surgery will likely be a couple of weeks away. I am sure he will pull through.

Nice picture. I wish him all the best with his surgery. It is a long recovery but he will feel so much better when it is over and he has recovered.

@Happy2BeMe That is my hope. It does have me worried, of course. It's a very risky surgery. But I am hopeful he pulls through and it gives him a new second life.

Great picture. I hope the surgery is successful. My hubby had a bypass in 2004. I hope you are having a good day.

A fighter is always a fighter. Let him dwell on this faith that God is beside him always and he will sail through.

I'm sure there are a lot of risks in pursuing the surgery, but there are just as many risks if the surgery was not pursued. I hope they determine it's worth the effort to move forward.

I love the picture!
I am sorry he has to go through that surgery, as it isn't an easy recovery at all. He will need that fighting spirit. But it does sound as if he truly needs the surgery for a better quality of life, and I am sure he will do well. It is good that he has a supportive family behind him, too.
