Two Weeks Ago

United States

Two weeks ago, I went to the market, and I noticed in the bin where potatoes are kept there were none. I thought it strange but didn't dwell on it. After the other day price shop, I began to think that people were buying them to eat and plant. I recall at one time people had their carts running over with items, but not now. Today I'll be making a list of items I'll need to start planting. I'll be here off and on, no but mostly I'll be checking out Pinterest and taking notes of items I'll need. I'm just glad I have a porch, but will still be watching for garden pests. We live in a wooded area, and there's some creature out there. I just don't know what. I know we have deer, and they are close by. So you all have a wonderful Sunday, and I hope to see you later.

@popciclecold Hot pepper plants can help keep them out. If you don't want to plant those you can sprinkle it around your plants

Is there a door on your porch so that the critters can't eat of your plants?

No, but we don't have any stairs to the porch. It's high up off the ground. I'll be looking out for squirrels.

@popciclecold That's really bad for the people there. Here potatoes are usually cheap excepting when it's very hot in summer.

Put a piece of Irish Spring bar soap in each planter. It repels the deer and maybe other pests as well. I was told this at a nature center. I know deer are pretty to look at, but you do not want them eating what you plant.

I hope you do well with your garden. If you grow things like strawberries, you could put netting over the plants to keep munchers out.

If it is possible it is best to grow what vegetables we can. Of course there will be the need for protection from garden pests and other plant eaters.
