Exercising in the office

@JudyEv It is a very good idea. Yesterday we parked the car in the covered parking and we walked in the Mall.

@LadyDuck We are trying to do more walking nowadays. We do too much sitting down.

That is what our son says so I guess this is a good idea for him.

@JudyEv My oldest is 54.

@jstory07 Our other son turned 52 in February. It's hard to realise they are this age.

He turns 50 in August so is probably starting to think he is getting old.

He turns 50 this year. He might be getting worried about getting old.

I've never had to live with snow and ice. It would be a totally new experience for me.

They are possibly quite new. I guess they'd be okay once you got used to them.

@thelme55 Humans seem to get busier and busier with less and less time so now people are trying to exercise while they're working.

@JudyEv If I could get out of here and go back to Ireland I would in a heartbeat Judy.

He doesn't play many gigs any more. His job keeps him really busy. I love the long twilights when we were there but we didn't get to experience the really short days.

We had a wonderful four days on one of these boats - four berth - Vince, myself, our son and his double bass on the other bed.

@JudyEv that's a real shame. Were the requirements really that onerous that they had to shut down?

@JudyEv No I didn't know about the cattle, what did they do? Switch to other systems or just give up? In the UK now there's the big switchover from the EU farming grants to some other system. In Wales the government wants farmers to devote 10% of their land to trees (it isn't clear whether they can count existing trees or if it means planting new trees). Under the old EU system trees were specifically excluded, even if it was just a large tree in a hedge overhanging a field, if trees covered too much of the land 'parcel' in aerial photographs that could not be counted. So it's a complete change. Meanwhile in countries that have recently joined the EU of course they are all chopping down their ancient woods and ripping out hedges to comply

When Ireland joined the EU, they couldn't meet all the safety requirements for the boats and they don't run any more. We spent four days on one quite some years ago.

For not exercising? That's for sure. lol

I can't really see it working for me either but he seems to be happy with it.

As I said I was surprised at first but I can see his reasoning. The road past his house wouldn't be very user-friendly in the dark either.

I think it is a good idea. I think if I had a knotty problem to solve, I'd forget to keep walking and fall flat on my face.

@MarieCoyle I used to go for a ride on my pony. I'd head out with something on my mind but an hour or two in the bush on horseback always helped to clear my thinking.

@JudyEv When I am deep thinking, I often have to do something--cook, sew, walk, whatever. It helps me to figure it all out somehow.

It's a good idea to get up from your chair from time to time.
