My mom has an appointment to see her neurologist today and my sister and I will go together with her. We are monitoring her memory loss issues and her diagnosis about a year ago she may be suffering dementia. It seems to be getting worse, so we want to discuss maybe upping her medication, but I guess we will have to wait and see what the doc finds. She will probably have another cognitive test of sorts. But before meeting with the doctor we will all three meet up at Sugarfire, a barbecue place, which is right up the street from the hospital. It's not the best barbecue in town. That prize would go to Beast Craft in town. But I don't mind Sugarfire's food at all and am quite looking forward to it. Especially since I am beginning to get a little bit hungry. We will meet up at 1130am and mom's appointment will be at 140pm.

I am sorry for your Mom, my husband has exactly the same problem, short memory loss. Enjoy your meal at the barbecue place, I am sure your Mom will appreciate.

As I recall, she most certainly did. It's pretty good food. Like I said, not the best BBQ in town, but not the worst either.

@LadyDuck It actually is. I go there every once in a blue moon. Plus, it's local. And I like supporting local businesses over the big chains.

It's sad to hear that your mom seems to be getting worse. Hopefully upping her meds do the trick. Enjoy your lunch

@porwest it is very sad to see our parents decline. I dealt with it for many years with my mom. You are a really good son to make sure you spend time with your mom. So far I'm in pretty good health but as I get older I appreciate more and more the time I get to spend with my family.

It is sad to see, but it is what it is. We do spend a lot of time with her, especially on the weekends. We tend to almost always have mom with us on the weekends.

@Marilynda1225 As time goes on it becomes more and more important to take some extra time with them, that's for sure.

I'm sorry to hear about your mother's diagnosis. I watched a show last night were people were talking about their own dementia and how they cope.

It's a horrible disease. I'd wish it on no one, including my worst enemy.

Praying for your Mom, you and your family. When Mike's dad was diagnosed with it, his progressed pretty fast. Of course, he was battling cancer as well at the time so that, we believe had a lot to do with it.

It's a challenge, and things seem to be progressing far faster than I would like. It is what it is. Not like I can do anything about it unfortunately. But thank you.

It was good stuff. A little pricey at $18 for an entree, but I got 6 ounces of brisket and had au gratin potatoes and baked beans on the side.

They decided to up two of them to see if it helps slow things down, but her symptoms are definitely worse this time around than her last visit. All we can do is deal with it unfortunately.
