I Am ANGRY!

Something has GOT to be done about my STUPID STEP-Father! He is as IGNORANT as that guy who started putting his stuff on the conveyor belt in Tesco before my mother had put hers on! I was making myself some microwavable pasta in the kitchen. The pasta is supposed to be microwaved on full power for 2 minutes 15 seconds, then stirred, then microwaved again for a further 1 minute. Well, our microwave doesn't have 5 seconds on it, it only goes in multiples of 10. So I microwaved my pasta for 2 minutes 10 seconds, then stirred, and I was finishing stirring when I heard my STEP-Father coming downstairs. I put my pasta in for a further 1 minute 10 seconds. I stood infront of the counter where I was going to stir my pasta before serving. But as soon as I moved to get my pasta out of the microwave, my STUPID STEP-Father moved infront of the counter where I had been standing. So I had to slip my pasta infront of him and try and reach it to stir it, meaning I pushed him. He moved away eventually saying I'd pushed in, when it was HIM who had pushed infront of me! I said, What do you expert me to do? I need to stir my pasta! I finished stirring my pasta and went into the living room to eat it, but I was SEATHING! I bet he's gone upstairs now to moan about it! Yes, it'll give him something to moan about! Actually, step-father or step-dad as titles are too good for him, lets just call him Syd! I cannot wait to get married and get out of this place! Cardiff is starting to look even more pleasant! Sorry about my rant. I hope you are having a better day than I am!

Maybe you can get a job doing whatever, just to get out of there. I certainly would consider it. You would have spare time to still do your art. If you aren't happy there, it's just time to leave. How old is this man? Maybe he isn't thinking of courtesies due to age or illness? Not making excuses for him, just wondering. I do know if a person isn't happy where they are, it's best to just do whatever it is you can to find your own little spot. I hope you find it, wherever it is.

I don't know what sort of job I could get. I'm not good with people telling me what to do! I'd prefer to work for myself. But when or if I start selling my paintings I don't know when or if I'm going to sell any and that. He's in his mid eighties. So yeah. And he's a bit deaf. Nothing wrong with his eyesight though, he could see I was there! I've been thinking I should move out for years but just no way of doing so.

@MarieCoyle Yes, I do think he meant to offend me! He was just being a right pain and not wanting to wait to get his lunch till I'd got mine! I'm living off my savings but the food is payed for by my Mum. I don't pay rent. My parents, especially Syd, would not help me get established. Syd doesn't like to spend money as it is. He was an accountant, so it's turned him into a miser. Imagine what the response would be if one day I said, Can you buy me a house please? It wouldn't go down well.

@sharonelton As people age, they are more likely to not notice the needs of others, as they are struggling with their own actions and needs. I don't imagine he meant to offend you in any way on purpose, but of course, I am not there and cannot judge the situation. May I ask, how do you support yourself? Do they have you paying rent or expenses such as food, utilities, personal items such as clothing or shoes, etc? I do hope you have some type of income? Yes, some people do not like to be told what to do, I get that. In all honestly, most people do not like it. However, being in the working world puts most of us in a position of having a boss/manager/in-charge person we have to have to follow directions and supervise our work. That's just the way it is. Most people would rather work for themselves, but that is difficult--you need money to get established in your own business, supplies, living expenses, food, and on and on it goes. While art is special and wonderful, and people do appreciate it, we are living in really tough financial times and it probably will not improve any time soon. People tend to only buy essential items when times are tough. They don't buy clothing unless they really need it, or go on vacations, or buy items they can live without, so often things like art, fancy clothing and cars, pricey foods or eating in restaurants, all go by the wayside and they do not purchase these things. When times are tough financially, people usually just stick to what they absolutely have to have. I have worked all of my life, from a young teen on up. I have held many types of jobs until I was able to get an education for a good job. Done everything from working in restaurants in every possible capacity, cleaning houses, receptionist, office work, and on and on. I didn't like many of those jobs, but I worked my way out of them to get where I needed to be. Not easy, but I didn't have a choice, I had to live and eat and pay the bills. Nothing is impossible. If you tell your family you would like your own small place, maybe they will help you get established and then you can work somewhere to be able to be on your own. '' I should move out for years but just no way of doing so.'' ~~ Yes, you can do this!

So sorry to hear you are having these issues with Syd. Communication is always a good thing. I'd change my routine so he isn't around when I have to do stuff. Ugh! Hope you are better now.

Thank you very much. I guess I waited a bit longer before doing my lunch because of answering MyLot notifications. You can't communicate with Syd. He's partly deaf anyway and you have to shout, and then when you do he says You don't have to shout! And he thinks he's the hens teeth. He's got no consideration for anyone else! But usually I do try to avoid him.

@grenery8 Our kitchen is perfect for one person! I do like our kitchen. It does the job. But it's not the size of the kitchen that's the problem. It's the impatience and ignorance of other people!

I have people pushing each other all the time in the kitchen, and it isn't even that small of a room. Maybe age makes him less sharp than what he used to be, it can be frustrating but it isn't a big deal. What usually gets on my nerves is that they think they're always right and apologizing is always out of question.

My mother and I decide who goes first at cash register at the grocery store. I don't mind if she goes first. My mother sometimes gets in my way, but it's ok. We joke around with it. But my mother did make me angry this morning. She had brought in two trash bags full of trash and we ended up having 4 bags of trash. We don't have trash pick up here. My mother said she was going to take out the trash, but she didn't. I was tired of stepping over the bags and I was afraid of tripping on them. She finally took two bags to the recycling center that allows trash to be dumped there.
