Nursery Visit Today

I had a visit to the nursery on the agenda for yesterday and was glad that I sent a message asking if the nursery was off of Old Hwy. 24 vs. Hwy. 24. I got a response that yes it was, but we are closed today. I looked at my notes and yes, I wrote down Open Tues. - Saturday. Duh!! So, we put this on the agenda for Tuesday. Hubby got up and went with me. This little nursery is located along the Amite River and we had to go over two wooden bridges with no railings. It was ERRIE!!! I got two plum trees and we headed back home. I will keep my eye out on his specials because he has great prices. The plum trees were $19.95 each and are $29.99 and up everywhere else around here. Win! I had a couple of more items to tag for the antique store. Got that done and fixed a late lunch. I ate and packed the car for the antique store. I only had one box of items tagged to put out so it did not take me long to tidy up there, put new things out and take some pictures. I use the pictures to post to Facebook group for the store and on other groups. After that I stopped to top off the car with gasoline. I got 8.113 gallons for $25.xx. Crazy!! They are saying that gasoline will be $5.00 a gallon all over the U.S. by the end of the summer. Not good. Too bad we are not independent on oil and gasoline like we were under Trumps administration. Biden has ruined our country by taking away our drilling and making us dependent on other countries for oil. Pityful!! Tomorrow we have 99% rain with bad storms moving in around midnight tonight. They will last throughout the day tomorrow. We are to expect high winds, hail and possible tornadoes. School has been canceled in several areas. How was your day today? @kareng I love lemons, they are healthy for me! I don't know what a satsuma tree is.

Well they didn't get planted today, but they will be a nice addition to the yard! Now I need a couple lemon trees and satsuma trees and I'll be happy.

Our gas shot up fast here. We were only $2.76 a week and a half ago.

It's smart to check around for prices. I'm glad I don't drive anymore. Prices are too crazy.

I'm glad you found a plum tree at such a good price. Gas here is $3.29 per gallon, but that could change. That's what it was yesterday. Every day is different. I'm sorry you have bad storms expected. Stay safe. I'm glad you have everything ready for the antique store.

We got two of them! I had tried to get a satsuma tree previous on one of his sales and he sold out! So we need at least one other trip! Storms blew right on though overnight and early this morning. Skies were clearing up by the time I left for the boutique so i did not have to drive in the rain! Our electricity was out before I left, no cell phone service or internet at home. At least I got some things done at the boutique!

@just4him It's a small citrus fruit you can hold in your hand. Do ya'll have Halo brand up there? They sell them in bags in the stores down here. It is opposite from a tangerine. The tangerines are tangy and satsumas are sweet. They are both about the same size.

@kareng I'm glad it was better at the boutique and driving was good. I hope you find a satsuma tree. I've never heard of it.

I had to drive my two ponies over a wooden bridge with no railings so that was a bit of a weird experience too.

@JudyEv I would have been too! I didn't like crossing that bridge. My hubby's truck is a 1 ton truck!

Yes! Very similar, skinny wooden bridge! Were the ponies hesitant?

@kareng They were very experienced although we hadn't had them long. They were surprisingly chilled about it all. I was the one panicking a bit.

Used to have a nice nursery not too far away, but the site was sold for flats and now it is a couple of miles to another nursery

That's too bad! That sounds like the way Baton Rouge, LA is going...every piece of land goes to apartments or condos. I am so glad we moved to the country!

@kareng Just tidied up the front planter and put in lots of wildflower seeds and some poppies as well. I'd like to get a shrub in, but no nursery to visit! Instead, I've put in some of those solar powered glow lights. Doesn't look too bad

Hopefully you will be able to soon! I have to wait for it to dry up some now after that storm last night and this morning. Lots of rain!

Yes, I would love to go back one day, but those bridges were really creepy! I hope everything is fine there.

I hate those narrow bridges without railing. We are having a wind storm, we did not get the alert this time and I have things scattered everywhere in the garden.

I just wish they would be making fruit this year! That would be super awesome! But I will wait! And be patient! They actually had some apple trees with small apples on them!

My weather has been Spring today. Some rain and some delightful sun spats. Snooping in plant nurseries is one of my favorite pasttimes- almost equal to snooping in antique shops.
