False alarm - no hyperbaric treatment needed for Vince

Vince went to an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist this morning and it seems his hearing is just the same as before. It’s the hearing aid that is at fault although Vince tested it when the problem first arose. So that’s good news. One less thing to worry about for the moment. He goes in for open-heart surgery on May 14 so it’s good we don’t have other issues to worry about for the moment. He sees the hearing aid people next week. He was told that if he does experience sudden hearing loss, to go straight to the clinic where he went today and to bypass a doctor. With sudden hearing loss, time is of the essence it seems. Another 'roo photo for you.

Good, that little mystery is solved. I wish one of your son's could be there during the surgery. It would be nice to have the support.

@JudyEv I would tell son to "man up" his dad needs him. You all have certainly been there for him enough times. Maybe you would feel more comfortable with your old stand byes though. It will be OK regardless I am sure.

The Irish son hopes the come home next year. It's the best he can do at the moment. I think I'll manage better without the Melbourne son who is a lovely 'boy' but has issues if he is out of his comfort zone. Vince's sister and brother are very supportive and I have good friends here in the village.

I am so sorry about the hearing loss. I hope it is just another adjustment in his hearing aid and everything will be fine. I am concerned about his open heart surgery. I am hoping and praying that everything goes smoothly on this one.

@JudyEv Even with the decades-long advancements in medical technology, it is unsettling to consider that you will need to have your body cut open in order to have repairs made, and there is still no guarantee that everything will be alright.

Thanks very much for your prayers and kind words. It is a common procedure nowadays - open-heart surgery - but it's not common to us! I can't help being a bit worried.

It seems when we hit a certain age everything want's to fall apart at 1 time or at different times we don't expect things to fall apart on us.

That is quite the way health care and health emergencies work. One thing complicates another.

I can see that. And some medications have to be stopped before the operation and I guess that will impact on his blood sugars or whatever. You just have to hope the doctors know what they're doing.

That must be a relief that his hearing hasn't gotten worse. Another 3 weeks until his surgery, hopefully that time will pass in reasonable time. I love the picture of the roos.

I am glad it was a hearing aid problem. That is easily fixed with no additional pain or procedures. I am sure you are worried enough about him without any additional problems! I will pray for you both, Judy.

Thanks for the kind words and prayers. We didn't know either but sudden hearing loss needs immediate attention. You have at the very most 7-10 days to seek help or it will be too late.
