Do you ever make "to do" lists?

I don't think I qualify as "forgetful" just yet. I do forget names, and wind up saying things like, "You know, the guy who starred in Risky Business and Top Gun" once in awhile. With my older friends, I joke, "You know, the guy who starred in Whatchamacallit, with Whatshernme as costar." The standard response is "Oh, I'll never forget Whatshername. She was hot!" Or something like that. This morning, I emailed myself a to-do list for today. I have only four students at Guitar Center this afternoon, so I'm going to run some errands before "work." Here's my list: Pick up pain meds at Kaiser; get potting soil at Home Depot; send check to certain entitiy; buy dry kitty food at Safeway. Completion of all tasks on my list could lead to the consumption of celebratory beer after Guitar Center. Failure to complete all tasks on my list could lead to self-deprecatory consumption of beer after Guitar Center. Do you make "to do" lists?

@TheHorse Yep! Usually on the back of a return envelope. I save them just for that! Easy to fold and put in my pocket for grocery store.

You mean you actually write them down? Like on a piece of paper?

@TheHorse Yes, one has to get off the couch to tackle that list. But first, more coffee

I don't often write to do lists. I will write things I need to do or stuff I want to remember when I'm at work, but that's pretty much it.

@TheHorse Good old fashion pen and paper. It's easy for me to remember and go through.

Do you write them down with a pen (I sometimes do)? Or email yourself?

I do. Making a list and then finding that paper list helps me focus on what is most important.

@TheHorse I won't take my cell phone when I go out later, either. (I don't have one so I'm getting off easy.)

I used to make them but when I started padding them with stuff like "get up, get dressed, have breakfast" just so I could check off things, I decided they weren't helpful.

I sometimes have that for my work tasks. For others, I am also writing down Calendar reminder entries- something that is not a very ideal practice but something that helps me a lot, especially when there are too many things to do.

@TheHorse Today I could check mark the last "do do" think in my list for the month of April, four days in advance.

I've made lists for years. But I have keep them on the fridge because I would never remember what's on them if they're anywhere else. I'd need a note telling me to check somewhere else for my lists.

@TheHorse I tell people that if they want to send something important to me to text it because I never check my email.

I make lots of lists about all sorts of things. I doubt I'd get much done at all without lists.

I do. I would do it a day before going to bed. That helps me stay focused and wake up with something to motivate me to come out of the comfort of my bed. Not all gets done in a day, few things on the list always spill over to the next day.

@TheHorse I am looking forward to going home tomorrow after a long break. My comfy bed and my garden are two things that I miss the most once I am away from home. They are my favourite.

I am a huge list person. We keep a running grocery list of items that we need to get for the monthly big haul, because they are basics to cook with, in addition to the other items we will need. If we stay stocked on the basics, we can always fix a meal without having to go to the grocery store, which just isn’t practical. I keep a list of son’s appointments and transfusions, etc. as well as my own obligations. Then there is a list of things I need to do in my’spare’ time!

I enjoy marking things off. Of late I just have the to-do lists in my head. If it is something I think I will forget to do I set an alarm on my phone to remind me.

Previously I also made a daily to-do list. At that time I was a salesperson. Work has too many items. So lists help me classify important things to do first, and help me not miss anything. Making a to-do list is very good and useful.

I'd be lost without my lists. I make lists for everything! I already have one started for my next Walmart order and one with everything that my husband wants brought to him in rehab. Have a good day.
