We watched the news at lunchtime and a guy has been jailed for 5 ½ years with no parole for putting up pornographic photos of women he knew. The scumbag didn’t have original photos but put faces of these girls on existing bodies. He linked and shared the images on a number of social media platforms. What an ar*ehole! What makes this even worse to me is that the girls he chose to humiliate in this way are all well known to him. He was a guest at some of their weddings, had stayed in the homes of others. Some were work colleagues. All thought he was a great guy and good friend. We can certainly read some people very wrongly. There was some suggestion that he wouldn’t go to jail but he copped a woman judge. I wonder if that had any impact on the outcome. I hope not.

What a horrible betrayal of trust. It's hard to imagine how someone could do that to people they know and care about. I'm glad to see that justice was served, but it's still so heartbreaking for the victims.

Wow...really mean fellow. Even if he had those pictures he had no business to do that. My punishment for him? Cut his..... but I think he may already be having some issues in that department. I would want a psychiatric assessment of guys like that so if we know of folks with similar background, we can spare ourselves some problems.

@JudyEv True. But after he is caught, we can put him through the psychiatric assessment. In all probability, he has been rejected by somebody whom he loved intensely.

Whats worse, now with technology is these creeps can do worse. They use AI to try to match a body to the face. This one girl on news was 14 and they say celebrities getting killed with this junk. AI does not scare me, what people do with AI scares me. These fools we call leaders have no plans to combat this stuff either.

@JudyEv Yeah, thats a whole new beast. I am still figuring it out how they still trying to sell AI the way they are. It clearly cannot tell right from wrong like they say it will be. It sounds to me it just does anything you say. Some may like that but if it cannot tell right from wrong there is no point in AI. Humans do a good enough job, we do not need a computer to help us.

They are looking into limiting the use of social media by young people but that's really a separate issue to AI.

There are plenty of such criminals. Now with deepfake and AI technologies, things could get out of hand, as we would experts to distinguish if its genuine video or not. Proper laws needs to be there and severe punishments , to deter such acts. It s tough for victims an the betrayal of trust. Hope justice would be served heavily!

The plus point is, we are also less likely to trust such images, considering the technologies. Long ago, I was told such a thing would be possible in future, so protect the image on Fb. I went ahead and did that. I sure am glad I did that.

Some of the things people like this do to others deserves harsh punishment. This is so wrong. If he did this, he is no doubt capable of doing things much worse than this.
