On a day like today, 61 years ago, I got married with the love of my life.
My husband died very young but if he had been alive, we would have gone to eat out the two of us alone.
There were many times when we had parties with our friends at our home. But our Anniversary was a special occation and we did not share it.
Today I woke up and found out that it was August 17. 17 is my lucky number and I often use it at casinos, on passwords and at any place where numbers are needed.
I will go up later and get the photo album of my marriage. Every time that I show it to anyone, they say that we look like 2 children going to their first communion. It probably is true. I was just 18 when I got married and although my husband was 7 years my senior, he had the same look that he had all his life, the look of someone with only good thoughts in his mind.
When he died, his face changed from the face of pain he had in his last days and his young smile was the last I saw of him.
Rest in peace, my dear hubby. I have not seen someone as lucky as I was. You were the best I had in my life.

You loved him so much, what a sweet story, Marga.
Maybe sometime you can put up a picture for us from your wedding album. I know I would love to see a picture.
I am sure you were the best to him, as well.

@MarieCoyle His only flaw was that he left me too soon.

I can't say I know what it feels like to lose a loving
mate as you have, but I can say that I hope that
you have healed from the loss, & all is better.

Part of it heals but leaves a scar. But I also have the memories.

Thank you very much. I often "talk" with him.
