New to me

Yesterday I had a couple of sweet treats that are new to me. At school the lunch ladies made Krispy Cereal Treats with Pumpkin Pie spice stirred in. You could not see it and the taste was very mild. In all the years I have worked with my kiddo he has never tasted the Cereal/marshmallow treats. He always smells them and pushes them away. Whether it is the store bought ones or the home made ones. He liked this kind. Ate his little square all up. They put extras in the teacher work room, so I got to try it. Yum.

That sounds good to me. My grandma used to put cinnamon in her Rice Krispie treats, and I enjoyed them that way.

@GardenGerty I am very thankful for that. So many people do not know how to cook. My grandparents and my aunt made sure that I learned, but in all honesty I have always enjoyed being in the kitchen.

It was just the spice. I know you could probably add some pumpkin in as well. Bob used to make pumpkin fudge.

@GardenGerty I saw a really nice Keto pumpkin fudge recipe that used sugar free white choocolate chips. They are a little hard to find though and rather expensive. I think Walmart has them for about 5 bucks, but they would have to be ordered. I didn't see them on the shelves there. They didn't cost too much at Target either, but same thing.

That might be an interesting flavour. I am over the bold pumpkin wannabe flavour on everything they can inject it into and are sold between September and the end of the calendar year. I saw a display at the grocery store today for gingerbread spices, and I thought oh here we go........

I like gingerbread even better. I use a home made combination of spices a lot.

That's an interesting mix, good your kid gave the cereal treats a chance this time and liked them. And even better there were some left for you to try.

Does he have heightened smelling powers? My autistic daughter-in-law does. My son says she has a nose like a bloochound. I don't think he says that to her though.

People with autism often are sensitive to smells, and even more so to textures. My student has a vision impairment, but not autism. That is also said to enhance smelling and other senses.

@GardenGerty They do say that. If one sense is lacking, other senses are more sensitive.

It was pretty subtle. I like to make mine with peanut butter in them and melt chocolate to spread on top.
