Florida is reporting a large increase in the number of cases of Vibrio Vulnificus (flesh-eating virus) since Hurricane Helene hit the state. There have been 74 cases and 13 deaths; and residents are advised to avoid floodwaters. The virus can be ingested or can enter the body through open wounds. Usually 1/3 of cases are fatal. The virus can be treated with antibiotics; but severe cases can result in doctors have to amputate an arm or leg. Bloodstream infection symptoms include fever, chills, low blood pressure and blistering skin lesions. From infected wounds the symptoms are fever, redness, pain, swelling and discharge. I am still without a landline. Kinetic/Wiindstream has a technician scheduled for November 10. They have given me a $50 credit to cover my inconvenience. It will be 6 weeks since I had a landline on November 10. Today I have a Focus Group assignment for $$$. It only lasts for an hour and pays well. Breakfast - PB&J sandwich Lunch - Meals on Wheels - Chicken breast in gravy, biscuit, scalloped potatoes, mixed veggies, pears Dessert/Snack - Blueberry muffin Dinner - Turkey/Swiss sandwich What did you eat yesterday? @LindaOHio I haven't had that in ages. Of course, give me Wendy's Baconator fries and I am happy as a lark. Good eats!

Floodwaters pose a variety of dangers and I suppose a flesh-eating one is one of them. Yeesh, it sounds horrible. But glad you'll be making a little dough. At a time when money is flying out the door for you with your husband's situation, anything extra I am sure is a big help to you. For dinner, wifey came back home and I decided to keep it simple. We had some leftover spaghetti in the freezer since the last batch spaghettied us out. So, I just took those out to thaw and that's what we ate for dinner.

There are a lot of nasty things in Florida. Yeah, $50 will only cover what they should have covered for me anyway.

Your meals sound good minus the fruits and veggies. I had fingersteaks for my main meal.

It was always fun to go out in the back yard after a hard rain and splash around, but we didn’t live in a state with swamps, skeeters, gators, and poisonous snakes. I wouldn’t go near non-pool or ocean water in Florida. I had a mammogram for breakfast, chicken tacos for lunch, and infamous potato soup for dinner. And apples and yogurt!
