What is it?

This thing called religion- not trying to step on toes or crunch anybody cause you're all dear and precious to me. I know my Mom's idea of raising me; I know her version of Faith.
Today is what? Many or most of you would say " a silly day to give out candy to kids." The end of another month For me this day is Samhain, the Celtic New Year. It is precious to me. Many years I have lit an oil lamp or a candle. I said a blessing to those gone on before me while I breathed in the Light. This is my day of reaching to the Mother. For me, the idea of a Diety is feminine mostly. Nurturing and giving.
May this be a soft day for you. May this be a day in which you are free from discomfort and harm. Walk gently on your path. It is yours alone.

I celebrate Samhain too. I am more of a witchy type believing in the earth and giving thanks for what she gives us. I believe there is a higher being just not God perse. I won't go into my thoughts on Christianity for I'm sure many would not care for my thoughts on the subjects. I lit my candle last night and will again tonight. The spirits are converging and I am happy to have them near for a while yet.

@sallypup .......Yes, about the witches. But, I do believe in Karma and I think that many of those people who tortured and killed the witches back then have seen the Karma at it's finest. I have to believe that. I will at some point come out and say what I believe about Christianity and even about the Bible. Now is not the time. My loved ones watch over my family and I am so thankful. They see us through.

@celticeagle Hello! How sad that the Salem witches are remembered for their supposed crimes but few condemn those who tortured? You are safe with me when it comes to bare faced truth on Christian history etc. May you find comfort in memories. Our loved ones walk in the Summer Lands.

@celticeagle Each and every culture has a Creation story. That is one example of a Bible story that is not unique. I am glad to know you and to call you Friend.

Yes, I don't associate the day with spirtuality..although that was the original intent I believe.

A beautiful post. I am very much interested in your beliefs. I have no religion. I thank Sun and Nature for being there. No deities though.

@wolfgirl569 I agree with you. I hope your day went well, too. The gingerbread (cake) is waiting for my hubby, the Pastor and friend to show up. The little pig sausages are ready to go.

I believe that there are many surprises waiting for us on "the other side". I believe that God is nurturing and also goes beyond gender. People who do good are reflecting God's glory. People who spew hate are not.

Maybe we can say we have our own will, but at the end of the day we should search for the truth and not for the reality that the world is promoting. When you search for the true light God will never put you down and will really reveal himself to you.
