Thanks for the well wishes, everyone. I’m fine, honestly. That’s my second panic attack ER visit this year, which is about normal. Let’s get back to the important stuff: music!!! Yesterday we had a pop classic from the 50s. Today, it’s 80s super music. Tempted - Squeeze Why this band was never a roaring success in America is beyond me. I love their witty lyrics (“I fumble for the clock, alarmed by the seduction”) and their happy sounds. They even brought in a ringer, Paul Carrack, for the vocals! Carrack was the lead vocalist on Ace’s hit “How Long,” Mike + the Mechanics’ “The Living Years,” his own hit “Don’t Shed a Tear,” and on the Roger Waters Radio KAOS album. Oh, and he co-wrote the Eagles’ “Love Will Keep Us Alive.” He did two of the three verses on this song (with usual Squeeze lead vocalist Glenn Tilbrook doing the middle verse) as well. The magic didn’t hit here, with the song stopping short of the top 40. Despite that, it’s been covered a few hundred times and has been featured in a number of commercials (sorry, but the use of it doesn’t make me personally “Tempted” to eat at Burger King ). It remains one of Squeeze’s most popular songs (despite the fact that two other songs of theirs, “Hourglass” and “853-5937,” did make the US top 40). I love Squeeze, and I love this song. Tempted Written by Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford Recorded by Squeeze From East Side Story, 1981 Peak chart position: #49 Today’s country song: “The Three Bells” It’s not my conscience that hates to be untrue:

Hey, I’m sorry to hear you suffer from panic attacks. I’ll just add my well wishes to everyone else’s. Great that Squeeze has made it onto your list. They are one of my all-time favourite bands, and sadly not as popular over here as you’d think. No number ones! How is that possible? My favourite song is probably Take Me I’m Yours. I’ve seen them live and they don’t disappoint. I hear they are supporting Heart over in the US next year, so go see them.

Have you ever heard their self-parodying of those “stars on 45” things, “Squabs on Forty Fab”?

@FourWalls I don’t remember this, but I was a fan of the Stars on 45.

@Orson_Kart — it was a non-album B-side, the flip side of “Labelled With Love.” I thought it was hilarious as well as so brilliantly executed!

Sorry to hear about your panic attack. I've had a couple myself. Well, you could have "squeezed" in a few more from this terrific band! Maybe they didn't make a bigger impact here because listeners thought their lyrics sounded like a "Weird Al" Yankovic song. Love the pick. Also enjoy "Up the Junction, Is That Love, and Black Coffee in Bed" too.

And “Cool for Cats” and “Pulling Mussels (From the Shell)” as well. One of my favorites is “Goodbye Girl.”

@FourWalls Yes, "Goodbye Girl" I really like too. "Cool for Cats" a unique tune for sure and actually heard a local bar band do "Pulling Mussels." And they did a decent job on it! Love their music and interesting lyrics!

I missed the post about your panic attack; I’m sorry you experienced that. I hate those, and they are downright scary sometimes. I haven’t heard this one, but now I have!

Scary indeed, especially 1,300 miles from home (like the one I had in Wyoming). Hope you enjoyed this one (the song, not my panic attack )!
