If it's Not One Thing It's Something Else

My grandson needed his Vyvanse prescription filled yesterday. We have been using the same drugstore for probably 20+ years. It's 2 blocks away. We have to call the pharmacy and have them go ahead and fill the medication that his Dr. always faxes over and the pharmacy has on file. We'll, this time they informed us they didn't have it. This is the only time in years and years that they haven't had the Vyvanse available. Whether it just didnt come in their last order or there's some shortage or who knows. So, we had to call around to other pharmacies. We find one but the prescription has to be faxed directly from the dr.s office. It was too late lastnight. We called the dr.s office and left a msg for her to please fax it and where. We called today (Weds)to be sure the pharmacy had gotten it. They had but needed insurance info. Did that So everything was ready. Or, so we thought. My daughter goes down on the bus to the pharmacy. Next thing I know she's back home with no meds. She had forgotten her ID and they have to have it to be able to give out this type of med. I can sure understand that reasoning although we have never needed it at our usual place. So my grandson will be without his meds for a 3rd day and my daughter will have to get it tomorrow. Geesh!!!

It's always something. I make sure I give myself enough time. Because I've learned in my 41 years on earth, it's always something.

Hmm, I hope it wont be a shortage of it either in the future. Yes all the rigmarole of IDs and such I know. And yes, always something.

Our pharmacy is out of my cholesterol meds and has been for two weeks. At least missing the Atorvastatin won't cause me problems if I don't get it every evening. I hope missing three days of his meds don't cause a problem for your grandson.

I just noticed he slept most of yesterday. He's back to his silly self today though.

@celticeagle Pretty does that sometimes if she goes off one of her meds, too. If I comment on it, she tells me she's just really tired.

@DaddyEvil ......Feeling tired is one of the side effects of Vyvanse I noticed. But, sleep to me is a good relief for any sickness or malady. Could be worse. Dear Pretty.

I'm sorry this happened. I hate having to remember so much, to be prepared for almost anything.

Yes, and now with the Putz in office you just never know what might come up.

We had this problem for months, and often I had to drive 20-30 miles one way to get my son's meds. The last two months, our regular pharmacy has been getting all he needs, I am so thankful. Can you put it on auto-fill? I do that and it helps a lot.

I was rather shocked. Had never had this issue before. Thanks for the idea.

@MarieCoyle .......With my new insurance, I have them delivered. With my grandson and daughter they have always gotten them from the closer pharmacy. It's good to have a little change to the usual schedule. Just glad we found some. He shouldn't be without it for long.

@celticeagle It helps to do auto-fill at our pharmacy, because then if they don't have it (which thankfully, they have had what he needed lately) then they actually call us and we know they are trying to locate it and will call back.

They don't make things easy sometimes. And there is little you can do to stop this happening.

Nope, so over the last few years I have learned to cope with it better. It's still a stressed but not as bad as it used to be.
