Days off?

When you work a 40 hour week, do you really get days off? For me it means I have work to do at home. There's laundry and cooking, which means dirty dishes, floors to sweep and mop, dusting and more. Next is mowing the grass and tending the vegetables that I am trying to grow to reduce my food bill. So really people don't actually get days off. I'm seriously thinking about opening my own businesses again because the current situation sucks. What do you do on your days off from your punch the clock job?

Right now I am just vegging out, it was a really stressful day today at work. But I will wake feeling refreshed, and then do as you say, the shopping, cleaning, and cooking. I did 2 loads of laundry today, and with working from home I can move the load over to the dryer and then fold and put everything away on my breaks.

@andriaperry I feel very fortunate to be able to work from here. I can let the robo vacuum do its job and do small chores on my breaks and save money on parking downtown.

I no longer punch the clock but I do keep working online for myself even through the weekends, I wish you the best of luck to figure out what to do,

I'm retired. Meantime I try to juggle tackling dust and fur balls, caring for needy cats, making my mouthy Heeler behave and for sure help my husband. He is not in the best of health. I used to earn money as a caregiver and in a way, I never left the job.

@sallypup I hope he's never forced to take a physical exam but it can happen. And yup! If a doctor figures out you haven't been see by a doctor in quite a while, they'll give you the full battery of physical tests.

@DaddyEvil I have not checked. Hubby's pride would scream bloody murder if I were to go full scale on caregiving stuff. He was mortified when he was so ill that I did pretty much every thing for him. Today he got too hot and had another spell. I wish I could talk him into getting a full physical- if we could find a doctor. I hope your Medicaid fund is not messed up.

@DaddyEvil I am with you about my hubby. The day might come sooner than later where I will need to force a full physical on him. The hospital visit was a revelation for me: I got full attention there. A woman showed up from the pulmonary department to listen to my lungs even!

I do meal prep for the next week. Some housework, laundry but not enough. I am online chasing that elusive dollar as well. My current situation is becoming a bit much for me.

Not really, unless you rich. Rich people get days off because they pay people to do that for them.

When I worked on my days off I did laundry and cleaned the house. Took my kids to do fun things. Went grocery shopping for the next week. I really only had days off when the last child left home. But I enjoyed every minute with my family that I had off.

I'm retired now but I worked just as hard at home as I did at my job. Probably harder physically.

Clean up the bedroom as well as picking up the garbage inside of the home and placing it in the trash can.

Before I retired and when my in-laws were still alive, I used to go food shopping on Friday night. Then I would get all the ingredients together for several meals that I would make on Saturday. Saturday was cooking day. I spent all day in the kitchen. I may have done laundry at the same time...I don't remember. Sundays I would bring food over to my in-laws. I would make a meal, clean up the dishes, etc. and do their laundry. We usually got home around 9 or 10 o'clock. That was it for my weekends.

I am a stay at home mom, so not sure that counts...but there is always work to do. When I did have that kind of work, with a boss and all....it was part time because I was going to college full time.
