Yard Sale Was a Big Disappointment

Happy Sunday everyone!
Our community yard sale was supposed to be yesterday but since it rained they postponed it until today.
Originally I wasn't going to participate since I didn't have that much stuff gathered to sell but since I was up early I figured I'd give it a try
Hardly any neighbors participated and very few customers came looking.
Although the sun is shining and it's a nice day, the wind made everything complicated.
The few of us who had stuff to sell spent more time keeping our stuff from blowing away.
Needless to say, I gave up and called it quits.
Certainly wasn't worth the time or energy for the little bit of time I spent outside.
Oh well...

@Marilynda1225 I haven’t in awhile, but it wouldn’t hurt to talk to Diana about it again. My dad won’t be interested, but perhaps she’s open to it.

@AmbiePam maybe it could be fun if you do it together. I don't think most men are interested in yard sales, etc.

Sunday certainly didn't seem like a good day for the rain date. They should have scheduled it for next Saturday instead.

We have 2 a year (one in the spring and one in the fall). I really would have thought they would have waited at least until May before scheduling the yard sale. April weather is so iffy

April weather is always iffy so it was surprising they scheduled it for this month and didn't wait until May when the weather is a bit nicer and more predictable.

I think the change in day due to the rain and then the wind really contributed to it all being a bust.

I guess so. I wasn't even going to participate but changed my mind at the last minute. Between the date being changed and the wind it was a bust.

That is too bad, so much and organization goes into a yard sale, it is too bad that it was rained out.
Now that you have some items, maybe you could sell them online, since you have already parted with them emotionally.
Yard sales never really made a rebound here after the lockdown from the pandemic.

We have 2 community yard sales here
One in the spring and one in the fall. Usually they do pretty good but I wonder if Sunday isn't a good day for lots of customers.

@Marilynda1225 That sucks! I hate chasing trash bins down the street. I can't imagine chasing things I'm hoping to sell down the street, too.

My time outside was limited as the wind was just gusting and blowing stuff around. A few of my neighbors were chasing their stuff down the street

Happy Sunday indeed.
So sorry to hear that the yard sale didn't go too well.
Maybe the change of day made it more difficult for people to participate . I would have given up and gone home as well.
We went to a Sunday Market today which was a total waste of time also. Hardly anyone there, windy, a bit of rain, not good.
A bit early in the year for things like that in Scotland. They should leave it until June or July.

I think the change in date and the weather played a big part in our yard sale being a bust.
Sorry that your trip to the market was just as disappointing. Wind and rain can really put a damper on things (literally).

The problem with the thing we went to was that every stall must have thought every visitor had " mug" stamped on their forehead.
One stall from a Farm Shop wanted £44 per kilo gram of Sirloin Steak.
Yet I have seen the exact same Farm Shop product in a Lidl shop for £25 per kg.
I conveyed this to the stall holder, bid him a fine day and complimented his on his Sirloin which I have bought from Lidl oreviously
