Peachy Keen

I was wondering how many of you had heard the phrase “peachy keen”. It means something is wonderful, or going well. Someone may ask you how you’re doing, and one replies “peachy keen”. It’s also used to be sarcastic if things are going badly for you, and someone asks that question. I looked up the origin, but I won’t bore you with that. I’ve used these words numerous times over the years. How many of you have heard those words, and has your day been peachy keen so far?

@ambiepam Never heard of it. A common way here of replying to the question “How are you doing?” is “Sticking out” or “I’m flying on the pig’s back”.

@AmbiePam No, I am alright. I like to be busy. I keep on thinking that I might get bored or feel less than challenged when I retire. I like using my working skills as long as I work. I will have to development other skills, to help me relax in a couple of years.

Never heard that expression. Peaches are supposed to be nice, so peachy fits in there quite nicely. A calm day for me so far.

@AmbiePam Now I'm going to have to look up "Boy Howdy!" I us that one to mean "Well, how about that!" It can have sarcastic undertones as well, I think.

I remember reading a Doom Patrol comic book in the 1970s when male character Robot Man said to his teammates of the superhero team those words.
