I found some goodies for you candy lovers out there!

When I saw this, I thought of mylotters that love their candy. I mean...these were a bargain! Big bags of M&M's, Dove Chocolates, bags of Snickers and a few other bags of choice, $1. And the jelly beans are .30 cents per sack. I blew $1 and got my son a bag of Nestle's Crunch for $1. They are one of his very favorites and hopefully they will bring a big smile to his face!

And of course, we all know someone who can eat copious quantities of candy or other high calorie foods and never gain an ounce. For the record, I am not one of those people!

I would have snatched up several bags of the types I like. After all, candy doesn't spoil and how often do you find cheap candy nowadays?

@MarieCoyle After holiday sales on candy are always good. While I was still at Walmart, I'd go down the candy aisle and pick up $20 or $30 worth of sale candy to take home. (Pretty never complained about me bring extra home, either.)

I know that before Easter, the candy was priced so high I was shocked. The Russel Stover chocolate bunny that was displayed today near that sale rack, was over $7 then. Today, it was 75 cents!!

Whoa. Leftovers or not that price for Dove chocolate is mind blowing. In a way, I am glad I wasn't there.

@sallypup I’m no saint for sure. A few years ago, I got serious and lost the weight. I haven’t gained any of it back and I don’t ever want to. Yes, I try to eat healthy but I like treats just like everyone else does. After years of failing to lose, I learned to set a calorie limit for myself and do my very best to stick to it. I have a dessert now and then but I never want to go back to being overweight again, so that’s my story, haha!

I have 3 bags of Dove chocolates in my freezer that I was given for Valentine’s Day, so I wasn’t even tempted. But yes, a mind blowing price!

@kareng I know that places like CVS and Walgreen's carry some groceries, but there is of course no fresh meats or produce, and the selection is extremely limited--and usually expensive. I always considered it more of a convenience for their customers than anything else. Hard to find a bargain in those places!

@MarieCoyle I agree. I thought it was wasteful and laziness myself. Her husband made good money and she made twice as I did, so they didn't have to pinch pennies, but OH SO WASTEFUL! This one was always late for work, took longer at lunches and left early a lot. She tried to push a lot of her work on to me and our supervisor found out and told her to straighten up or else. After she had her second baby, which was a few months later, she quit. It was so nice then without her there! However, our supervisor passed away and I got 2 witches in a row for a boss.

@kareng I used to hate it when others would expect me to do their work, and mine as well. I imagine you were very glad when she left!

People were snatching these up. When I paid for them, the clerk told me they had just put them all out about 20 minutes before, and as you can see, very few were left.

I have seen Easter eggs sold at our local grocery store today, but I bought nothing. Those are bargain prices for sure.

@MarieCoyle If the store will not sell those Easter eggs soon, they will do the same. The chocolate does not keep well in summer.

I would not had bought any at all but they were for him, so I bought him the one package. I was just surprised they sold it so cheap, as I have never seen markdowns like that, at least not in years.

@LadyDuck Honestly, some of our grocery stores turn the air conditioning on in March and leave it on...I have to leave a hoodie or sweater in the car all year round to keep so I can grab it for some of these stores that do that. So, so wasteful, and who wants to freeze while buying groceries? But I guess the chocolate will never melt in those places, either! Seriously though, no, chocolate doesn't keep as long as other candies do.

Peeps are not really my favorite, but all of my kids loved them when they were little. I always buy one tiny package for Easter for the son that's here with me right now. They were his favorite as a kid, and he looks forward to his 3 little peeps on Easter Sunday.

@1creekgirl Once, he said he thinks they should make chocolate flavored Peeps, so that a person can drop them in their hot chocolate. I swear, this son of mine loves hot chocolate.

I do like jelly beans. But...for the last several years, I have become a reader of labels, ingredients, and calories. I did contemplate getting one bag of jelly beans. OK, we know that when a person eats those, they eat them by the handful--never just one or two ! And each jelly bean was 14 calories. And I would have no doubt polished off the entire bag, not in one day but I just don't need all that sugar and calories, so I walked away from them. It's hard sometimes, but I don't ever want to go back to where I was in weight.

That was a great deal! For sure your son loves it. M&M is a popular brand even here in our place. I also buy this candy every time I go to the grocery and would bring it to the office because there are times when village secretaries bring their kids with them when they submit reports. So even if I don't eat much, I am still a big fan of this candy.

@MarieCoyle That must be so sweet and delicious! I will write it down so I can have closer look at the names of the candies at the grocery. I'm not good with names and there only few brands that I can remember, Toblerone and M&M and some local brands. Maybe we also have this Werther at the imported section.

Oh, yes...they are good, I know. But if I were to get them, I would be tempted to eat some...and I know I don't need them. If I am going to splurge on a sweet treat, I honestly would prefer a dessert over candy. But I know many love candy. My very favorite candy is Werther's. I don't know if you have it there. They make a soft version with a caramel center, a hard candy version, and a sugar free version that is coffee and caramel flavored, which is my favorite. I carry some in my handbag, as I get dry mouth often and it's not always convenient to carry water around, and I really do like those, but one is usually enough.
