I’ll gladly do it again next year.

So last night I was a “runner”, which is just calling the kids as their order comes up (for competition in music, drama, art, sign language, memorization…) I was also asked to keep the hall quiet so those in memorization competition could speak without loud interference. That actually was more difficult than dealing with any children (the children were well behaved). I had to ask a group of adults to please be quiet twice. I understand they probably didn’t like that, but my concern was getting scolded for not doing my job by my sister! This morning (Saturday), was much easier. I just judged group drama. It wasn’t a big deal (they had scoring sheets), and I think I’ll ask to judge both Friday and Saturday next year. I knew several kids, but those kids varied through the groups, so I didn’t have a preference for anyone. No conflict of interest. They gave me the $150 last night, and it is greatly appreciated. Two and a half hours last night, and three hours this morning. In addition, my sister and her family were here as my sister and BIL also judged (they have degrees in music). My dad watched his two youngest grandkids so he was exhausted! Amyra ran around and made friends. What did you guys do today? It’s beautiful here outside, what about where you are?

@ambiepam That sounds exhausting. We went for a picnic and a drive along the coast.

I was sitting there thinking how you’d be perfect for judging at this thing. You’d give great feedback too, and feedback is something I struggled with giving on some of their forms. I love plants sales, but I have to just look, in fear I’ll kill something if I take it home with me.

What an interesting and fun way to spend the weekend, plus you made some money. I was busy this morning for a while, but this afternoon I haven't done much-I had a 20 minute nap and not much else. It has been a cool day here today, so that has left me inside.

I'm glad you had a good time. It's overcast here and not particularly warm today. (We reached 60F for our high and have a chilly wind blowing.) I'm having trouble seeing this afternoon and had to ask Pretty to help me microwave something to eat for my lunch a little after 5 pm when I woke up. I'm pressed against my laptop screen to see to read here today. Fun, fun.

@AmbiePam Our church has a concession stand once a month as a fund raiser for someone or a family who needs a little help. Today was for a couple in our church. The husband is in really bad health, but his wife passed away this week from cancer. But we'll still give him the donations, of course.

You would have been a good music judge. Your feedback would have been truly helpful for when they compete in nationals. Do you like California better than Montana, or vice versa?

You might have enjoyed the day here where I was. It was for Bible memorization, Christian praise music, art depicting God’s creation…it was amazing to see and hear all the ways Jesus is working. It was a blessing that it dawned on a clear pretty day.

I think this is an instructive thing. I also had the task of taking care of the children as a teacher and making sure they didn't mess around while writing papers!
