Farmer's market

Dale and I went to a local farmer's market this morning. Once a month our small church has a concession stand there to raise money for different families. Just found out we raised almost $3,000! After a sausage dog and sweet tea there for breakfast, I walked around looking at the other stands. One is a local pecan company and I declare, for the third time in three months I've asked if they had a particular something and they said they had it back at the store. For goodness sake, if you want to sell something, bring something with you! Another stand was selling handmade kitchen towels with the crocheted handles, totes, other kitchen linen stuff. I told them about how my Aunt Fannie always made pot holders and how special they are to me. I'll use them until they wear completely out. They rate right up there with her handmade pull sugar candy. I've spent the rest of the day doing housework (having some back pain for a couple of days), but Dale's a big help. We finally got a couple hours of rain yesterday which we desperately needed... the farmers here really need it. How was your Saturday?

My relatives and myself were getting rid of items that we do not need inside of the home that will be picked up by the sanitation department on Monday.

Sounds like a nice mix of things there! It was a quiet day here. We missed the rain we were supposed to get, but got enough yesterday to not need more today!

We have three pecan trees, but they didn't do anything this fall. They're the small variety, but really sweet. Maybe next fall.

@1creekgirl I bet they are pretty even without the nuts. I have a gigantic walnut tree in my side yard. The squirrels get the walnuts. I enjoy its huge leave and shade.

Thanks for the update. I'm sorry your back is bothering you. I spent my Saturday under my blanket, hoping to fall asleep. I was soooo tired. I did manage to get an hour or two of sleep.

You still don't sleep well, do you? It's understandable, though.

It was OK, nothing major going on, but I got to the plant sale I wanted to go to, and picked up some meds.

I make every year some crocheted handles to replace those that worn out during the year. I always wonder why people do not bring things they could sell with them!

Wow! That's an awesomely good amount. I haven't been to a farmer's market in years. The nearest one is a bit of a distance since I don't drive yet. Hope you're feeling better soon. Had a productive self-care day, getting ready to hopefully adopt cat two in a week or two.

We've had light showers today which is really good for the garden. The sky is black to the south but I think any heavy rain has gone round us.

The Concession stand is a very good idea to help out those in need.
