OMG what has Trump done to the Oval Office?

Holy hell. We all know that the man has no taste and he loves tacky gold everything (including toilets) but WOW has he defiled the Oval Office. He has had staffers and even someone he calls his "gold leaf man" add an insane amount of gold accents and items in there. It is hideous. I cannot believe the guy in charge of maintaining the White House (I forget his official title) agreed to it to this degree. It makes the Oval look like a cartoon version of itself. It is ugly. It is tacky. And it is what the world sees when he is meeting with world leaders. No wonder the world thinks that he and America are jokes.

I'm almost certain other world leaders thought the US was a joke as soon as the idiot was elected into office. Anything else he does just confirms that for them.

The man has absolutely no taste at all. Such a shame, I finished my comment and when I submitted it a picture of a gold turkey showed up Now we know Trump is a turkey

It looks gaudy to me, but beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

He is such a worry. It's scary to think what lengths he might go to to get what he wants - as regards Canada I mean.

You really need to get a hold of yourself. You are worrying about things that do not matter. Throughout history, presidents have personalized their spaces. Every single president has done this. When Trump is done, the next president can restore the Oval Office or change it to how they want it. This is just not anything to be concerned about. As for your take on how the world views America, it's just another attempt at clutching at straws trying very hard to implant your views of Trump into everyone else's brains.

Yes of course they can personalize their space. I didn't even care that he added like 20 more presidential portraits instead of like the 4 or 5 that presidents usually have. But to make the Oval Office look that tacky. . . wow. Let him do that to the residential space but not where the world sees him interact with world leaders. I'm not clutching at straws about how the world views America. JD Vance and his wife went to Greenland for a visit. . . and no one wanted to be seen with them so they were stuck at some US Space Force base. They went to India where he was supposed to work on a trade deal with them. No deal but India just signed one with the UK. Canada just elected a new prime minister who actually was very unpopular until Trump started his stupid trade war with tariffs and saying that the country will be our 51st state. So. Much. Winning.

@NJChicaa Perhaps you have not seen the presidential palaces and official offices of other nations? Many are lined in gold or even gaudy. What does it matter? As for your view of the reaction of other countries toward us, IF there are any issues, it's that they don't like that the United States is acting like the United States again and wielding its clear power. Think of it this way. Let's say someone comes along and decides he's going to tell you how you are going to run your classroom and has the power to do it. You are going to be angry. Not because the guy telling you how to run your classroom can't. But because for years no one took the control they always had to do it. When the world was getting its way, they were happy. Now that Trump has reasserted American power...they're pissed because the game is over.

@porwest We'll see how much power the US has after this Trump term. Europe already knows not to rely or depend on us. Canada does too. This is after just 100 days. Xi and Putin think Trump is a joke as they have since his 1st term.

I have to agree that it does not look good. Way too much gold and it’s everywhere. Umm… who is paying for this nightmare? Oh. Never mind…

@NJChicaa Yes, we are. While prices continue to climb and the economy is in the toilet, at least we have a gold Oval Office.
