Hooray, I survived my eye exam! I told the optometrist, however, that I’d rather have a mammogram. She was shocked, but I explained, “The mammogram is over in five minutes. I’m going to have a headache (from the dilation of the eyes) all night.” But everything is cool, and I can see well enough to find the video for today’s song from 1975! Rainy Day People - Gordon Lightfoot Doesn’t this sound like Rod Serling should be narrating it? Submitted for your approval: a year of music, where the Captain and Tennille dominated, KC & the Sunshine Band came along with disco, and you could hear Gordon Lightfoot after an Alice Cooper song. It was The Twilight Zone. Well, that was 1975. And, if you think about it in that regard, it’s really not THAT strange that my iPod plays Hank Williams after the Clash. This was Gord’s “tweener” song, between his #1 hit “Sundown” and his legendary epic “The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.” So if you don’t remember it, that’s probably why. Rainy Day People Written by Gordon Lightfoot Recorded by Gordon Lightfoot From Cold on the Shoulder, 1975 High-stepping strutters who land in the gutters:

Gordon is such an iconic character. Each of his tunes are nostalgic. The Twilight Zone seems like a good backdrop.

For a year that gave us all of that different music (and tomorrow’s is another one that is completely different), yes it is! Love Gordon’s music so much.

I know this one. I'd rather have my eyes dilated. I have my mammogram coming up next month.

I guess I’m used to the momentary mammogram pain. I don’t like headaches, especially ones caused by dilation. Feels too close to a cluster headache.

No, Peter and Gordon were British. That was Gordon Waller. Gordon Lightfoot was Canadian.

Vince had his pupils dilated once but they didn't warn him about how long it would take for them to get back to normal. He drove off after quite while but driving into the sun was dreadful. He had to got to a nearby friend's for quite some time before driving home. It was very negligent on their part really. I guess they think everyone knows the score.

I love all of his stuff and remember this one well. Though only in the 5th grade in '75, my musical tastes were growing greatly thanks to Dad and the radio!

I liked Gordon Lightfoot's songs. Another era, for sure. The last two times I have been to the eye doctor, they dilated my eyes with whatever it is that they use and it stings for hours and hours...I was shocked to find out they said I could drive myself home. My eyes ached so much I honestly didn't want to, and I am not a moaner...they just ached. And you are correct, it leads to a big old headache, too.

Hubby got it by the second verse, both song and artist. I've heard of this artist, but I don't really know him or his work.
